#Uranium CEOs & the Psychopathic Spectrum
Thread 🧵1/25
It takes a special kind of character to venture into junior mining & hunt for valuable minerals buried under dirt & stones. Raise capital, manage a team & engage in constant battle with Gov/social licenses.
Let's dive in!
2/25
Let's first get some misconceptions out of the way.
Not all psychopaths are serial killers. In fact, only very few are. Psychopathy is a wide spectrum. Most psychopaths are functional within society.
Only a very few (on the high end of the spectrum) look like this:
3/25
This thread is not about ⬆️ types.
We are going to have a deeper look at the center zone of the psychopathy spectrum where one meets the more successful CEOs of corporations. The pro-social psychopaths. Ambitious & often charming in public.
These types look like this:
4/25
Psychopaths, sociopaths, & narcissists are different "species". Many of the traits overlap & this can easily confuse a serious analysis.
We will solely treat psychopathy and assess whether it would be beneficial or detrimental for #Uranium COEs to be within the spectrum.
5/25
Let's have a look at the commonly accepted traits of psychopathy. (Image)
Psychopathy is a spectrum. Not all psychopaths have the same mix of traits nor the same level of each trait. Each individual is different depending on the mix. Nurture also has molding effects.
6/25
Psychopaths tend to display traits that are widely associated with effective leadership: charisma, persuasiveness, & creativity. They can often be very successful for this reason, especially if they are high-functioning ones & able to avoid detection over the long term.
7/25
@TheRealDrKev has spent a lifetime studying psychopaths. He met SAS hero McNab (a diagnosed psychopath) who is able to dial up or down traits such as ruthlessness, fearlessness, conscience & empathy to get the very best out of himself & others in a wide range of situations.
8/25
Dutton & McNab explore how a good psychopath thinks differently & how we can achieve our life objectives by developing traits such as charm, coolness under pressure, self-confidence & courage.
Do your favorite #Uranium CEOs have enough psychopath juices to go for the win?
9/25
In another provocative book, @TheRealDrKev illustrates the spectrum of psychopathy with some insightful & startling case studies showing that there is a fine line separating a successful business leader or brilliant surgeon from a serial killer or corporate fraudster.
10/25
If your #Uranium CEO is on the low or high spectrum he will not achieve an optimum level of functionality.
Too much empathy (low) = unable to take hard decisions.
Too high up the spectrum = won't be able to dial down his psychopathic traits = irresponsible & impulsive.
11/25
We should hope to find our #Uranium CEOs in the CENTER of the spectrum, the sweet spot where he/she owns enough psychopathic juices to be able to positively feed into their leadership traits and still be in control to dial them up & down and be perfectly functional.
12/25
The higher up on the spectrum, we should worry that the #Uranium CEO will use manipulation & lies to achieve & maintain fame & lifestyle. He will use the company & shareholders as tools.
The Junior Mining sector is the perfect hunting ground for these parasitic predators.
13/25
Too high on the spectrum, and the #Uranium CEO might be putting lipstick on a pig.
Some🚩flags:
*Polishing up old Feasibility Studies
*Acquire assets with inferred minerals
*Buy up an old mine
*Start a new explorer nearby existing producers
*CEO salary way above average
14/25
How many #Uranium companies are putting lipstick on a pig in this current phase? Are they being run by highly functional CEO psychopaths a bit too high up the spectrum? Are they mining shareholders instead of mining ore? Are they running lifestyle companies?
(meme away)
15/25
We want our #Uranium CEOs to be strong, able to take hard decisions, have a realistic but bold vision, be persuasive, and be able to take risks but not be reckless.
In other words, we want them to exploit mineral deposits at profit without exploiting us, shareholders.
16/25
In this book I highly recommended, Snakes in Suits, psychopathy experts Hare (the creator of the Psychopathy Checklist) & Babiak examine the type of high-functioning psychopath that is not necessarily violent but uses all his tricks to make it to the top of the company.
17/25
One section in the book discusses whether psychopathy is the result of nature or nurture. The answer is both. It is a feedback loop.
A high-functioning CENTER spectrum psychopath born in an experienced mining family will most likely become a successful #Uranium CEO...
18/25
A few more 🚩 that might indicate we are dealing with a bad psychopath CEO:
*Announcing misleading drill results
*Spends too much on marketing
*Mentions price more than geology
*insider buying just before announcing drill results
*Insider selling just before bad news
19/25
A few hints that we might be dealing with a good psychopath CEO:
*Has delivered so far on every promise made
*Has successfully negotiated with local communities and tribes
*Salary is within the overall sector's average
*Never makes unrealistic statements about spot price
20/25
Everybody is welcome to add their own views and experiences on possible 🚩 and hints that might indicate to others to analyze whether their investments might be led by a "good" or "bad" psychopath.
Keep in mind that one action or trait is not indicative of anything
21/25
"The Psychopath Inside" tells the fascinating story of James Fallon's (neuroscientist) reaction to the discovery that he has the brain of a psychopath. How could he, a successful scientist and a happy family man with no history of violence, be a psychopath?
22/25
After the discovery, Jim Fallon replays his past life & notices how many of his previous actions & engagements with family, friends, students, & colleagues were not exactly "normal". He discovers he was quite self-centered, overly ambitious, manipulative, and impulsive.
23/25
But when he finishes his book, Jim Fallon boldly claims that despite him having been a bit of an @$$hole to many people in his life, society needs him and people like him. Because psychopaths are adventurous pioneers that boldly go where no man has gone before.
24/25
In the #Uranium sector, one has to boldly go where no man has gone before. CEOs should be adventurous pioneers. They need a little bit of those psychopathic juices & be risk-takers. Society needs them, and we need nuclear power more than ever. We need these Atomic heroes!
25/25
But we must also make sure that we avoid the "bad" psychopaths. So keep your eyes open!!
Please don't use the word "psychopath" frivolously when addressing any of our #Uranium CEOs. Leave that to the experts 🙏
