Quick lunch (more meat came later).
Little artsy outdoor event. The buildings feature various art and design exhibits- actually one of the only legitimate ones I've seen. Very nice work, not the usual appointment-only/Potemkin Village nonsense for visiting media and politicians only.

Shenzhen has an insane housing market because the rich buy up multiple properties and then let them sit empty as investment properties. This has priced almost everyone out of the market (including me) unless their families pay for it and that makes it hard to retain talent.
Renters have almost no rights- you can be evicted with days notice so this means people won't settle down and start families. Shenzhen has a program to make these homes available to white-collar workers but of course it doesn't address the root problem of rich hoarding apartments
Inside one of the buildings, they converted an industrial brewery into a gallery space. We're not really a city known for art and culture so everyone is very enthusiastic and appreciative. They were also smart enough to make it selfie-friendly so people can share the experience.
