@TerryMatalas Going back and watching the TNG pilot and finale, it’s clear just how well you and your team knew (and understood) the source material.

Troi and Riker’s first scene together, with a payoff 35 years later in your finale:

The moment Data and Riker first met, which you turned into a plot point.

(I ended up saying “Marvelous” at the same time as Moriarty. Just that moment of realization of what was about to happen. Still gets me.)

And then this moment from All Good Things. They said back then none of that potential future might happen, and by the time you took over Picard, it was already established that most of it didn’t. But you still decided that nothing would stop Geordi from being a family man.

The first private conversation that Picard and Riker ever had. It was his lament from the very start. And you figured out that it was the one thing that could salvage his storyline after he wasted so many years rotting in a vineyard that he never wanted to run to begin with.

Just a phenomenal job of understanding the source material.

It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to watch TNG without mixed feelings. You gave me that back. I thank you again, for your effort and for your graciousness.

By the way, this moment actually happened in the All Good Things opening credits with closed captions turned on.

So I just have one question: is this how Geordi managed to pull it off? 😆
