Democrats love to proclaim, “IT’S THE GUNS!”, whenever there is a shooting that captures the Ruling Class Uniparty media’s attention.
The data, however, tells a much different story, and that story makes it clear that #ItsNotTheGuns:
First, when we look at the per capita rate of gun-related deaths (which includes homicides and suicides) in the U.S. compared to several other countries with far fewer guns, we find that the U.S. is not that different despite having an order of magnitude more guns; if it really… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Next, if we look at the rate of gun homicides in the U.S. compared to the rate of gun ownership, we see an inverse relationship in that gun homicides have decreased in close proportion to the increase in gun ownership; if it really was the guns, we would see the opposite effect:
Finally, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, almost every major study on defensive gun use has found that Americans use their firearms defensively between 500,000 and 3 million times each year.
