Brazil Free speech is endangered!
Brazilian President Lula da Silva is pushing the congress to vote PL2630
The “official” reason is to avoid fake news and misinformation like Covid and also hateful speech But, always in early dictatorships, they have “good reasons” to (continue)

silence people, and then, everyone can guess what will happen, as the history itself teaches us.

Some strange points in the project:

Social networks, will be from now on, part-responsible for what is posted, and they are obligated to remove contradictory content, that in reality will make the social networks avoid political topics, and forbid any controversial theme, such as corruption…

Every regular media link posted must be paid to the content creators, what will reduce the relevance of posts with links, and that action can potentially benefit the regular media that can receive more money when someone just attach a link.

With the link posting reduced and controversial themes with reduced relevance, the regular media that now is experiencing less relevance will be again the biggest player in information diffusion.

But, mostly of regular media in Brazil is partial, so we will have less transparency, letting the main media construct their interests with Brazilian politics without concurrence.

Social networks without office and legal representation in brazil will be forbidden (such as telegram, rumble and truth), forcing the users to use only “allowed” social networks that can be previously censored by Superpowered judges like Alexandre de Moraes and Gilmar Mendes.

The project also aims to create a government linked association that will “moderate” the social medias, in Brazil we call it “Truth ministry” that will decide what is truth or not based on politics desires.

Everyone wants to avoid fake news, but here we already got laws for that. We cannot lose our free speech no matter the reason or excuse to do so.
