/ 🤰What can we learn about pregnancy form 45 million lab tests? We present a dynamic atlas of pregnancy and postpartum based on measurements from over half a million pregnancies at a one-week resolution. @biorxivpreprint @AlonBar10

/📈The atlas spans 20 weeks pre-conception, 38 weeks of pregnancy and 80 weeks postpartum, providing unprecedented insights into the systems physiology of pregnancy #PregnancyDynamics

/ 🕓We shed light on the mostly unknown world of postpartum adaptation. About half of the tests take months to a year to recover., highlighting the prolonged physiological changes that occur after childbirth . #PostpartumRecovery

/ 🔁 about half of the tests show jump discontinuities at delivery. We explain this by compensation mechanisms that grow during pregnancy and then overcompensate when the fetus and placenta suddenly exit. #PhysiologicalCompensation"

/ 💊We noticed systematic changes even before conception! These are due to supplements like folic acid and their systemic effects. #PreconceptionDynamics

/🦋The accurate data allows us to distinguish between mechanisms of the thyroid axis. Thyroid hormone and Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) showed rebound dynamics, explained by changes in thyroid mass as a compensatory mechanism. #ThyroidDynamics #PhysiologicalCompensation".

/ 📚🫀 We go system by system to reveal how they change and adapt- immune, coagulation, liver, kidney, metabolism and more #SystemsPhysiology

/ 🔍🤰 The high-resolution data offers a resource for researchers and clinicians. It advances basic science of pregnancy and establishes a baseline for studying pregnancy-related pathologies. #ResearchResource

/ 🤱🧑‍🍼We hope that this dynamic atlas will facilitate investigations into the intricate physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and postpartum, ultimately improving maternal and fetal health outcomes. #MaternalHealth #FetalHealth
