A common argument is that this is too much money and is needed at home. This is based on very inaccurate assumptions about the amount of aid: it is $39 B a year max and is about 5-6% of the DOD annual budget. It also phases out./2

Another common criticism is that Europe needs to do more. This is actually already happening and their contributions are growing pro rata faster than the US:/3

A big fuss was made over auditing and accountability. The facts are that the aid is aggressively financially controlled./4

Concerns about equipment actually reaching the right folks have also been addressed in great detail. No issues have been identified./5

The notion this is an endless war is behind many anti-aid comments. This is totally inaccurate: Ukraine is winning & will do so in the near-term. Ben Hodgers, former US commander in Europe (who has been accurate from the start unlike the war critics):/6

The idea that Russia has vast resources that will draw out the war or change the momentum is also mistaken. Russia is also in acute economic trouble./7

Last, the risk of Russia using nuclear weapons has been grossly overstated. Putin has drawn multiple red lines and nothing has happened. We should avoid calling for regime change, but nothing else would provide any incentive for a Russian use of nukes./8
