In this 🧵 I’m not going to talk about ALL the philosophical differences between #AEW & #WWE. Just one and how it shapes the product.
The wrestling business vs running a business that features wrestling, and how it drastically alters how each product is presented.

Googles mission statement “to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.” A distinct philosophy that cannot be misunderstood.
Here are WWE/AEW mission statements. Notice WWE does not mention wrestling, but instead a “portfolio of businesses.”
These philosophies mean the companies focus on different things and attract different fans.
Some fans are embarrassed to be watching wrestling so they tell friends WWE has EVERYTHING. Having celebrities of any caliber is validation to a fan who’s insecure about their hobby.
But, having celebrities as instant contenders is a sound strategy when used effectively. Logan will bring eyes who hopefully stay, while simultaneously getting the roster over simply by angering the base which hopefully motivates them to be louder for the regular roster.
Some enjoy a variety show with various forms of entertainment, & others prefer a show pridomitley focused on in ring action/storytelling.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with either presentation, & that’s why alternatives are wonderful for a thriving industry. 🧵5/5
