A: When I was in 6th grade I saw a trailer for The Exorcist – it was really shocking. When I was in high school, I finally saw the whole movie. It was fun and scary at the same time – it really blew me away.

A: The main draw of horror is about the unknown. With horror, you’re faced with the unknown, but you’re given some kind of resolution in the end. It’s part of the human psychological need to know the answers.

A: There’s a part in Tomie when she’s dismembered, & new Tomies comes out of these body parts. I had some second thoughts, but I ended up drawing it anyway. (laughs)

A: I watched a TV documentary on the history of space accidents, like when rockets explode when launching. I thought it was scary, but instead of a space race, it's about a race to the afterlife.

@DandQ It’s particularly fascinating to read My Picture Diary by Fujiwara Maki because it offers a different PoV of the family life depicted in Tsuge’s Man Without Talent. I met Tsuge, his son Shosuke (who’s a toddler in this book) and Asakawa Mitsuhiro at Angouleme in 2020
