These are photos of SS Galicia Division veteran who was given standing ovation by Canadian parliament, prime-minister of Canada and president of Ukraine. He published these photos of himself in this division during training in Germany. He is standing in the middle in 1st photo, second on the left in 2nd photo & without helmet near machine gun in 3d photo.

He wrote that he volunteered to join SS Galicia Division in 1943 in Ternopil region in Western Ukraine komb-a-ingwar.blogspot.com/2011/03/blog-p…

And now

My peer-reviewed journal article concerning involvement of SS Galicia division members in mass murder of Poles, Jews and Ukrainians in Ukraine and Poland, including mass executions of about 100 Jews, Poles & Ukrainians in my high school in Pidhaitsi near Lutsk.

AP/CBC: "A top commander of a Nazi SS-led unit accused of burning villages filled with women and children lied to American immigration officials to get into the United States and has been living in Minnesota since shortly after the Second World War, according to evidence uncovered by The Associated Press.... Officer and founding member of the SS-led Ukrainian Self Defence Legion and later as an officer in the SS Galician Division, according to records obtained by the AP through a Freedom of Information Act request. The Galician Division and a Ukrainian nationalist organization he served in were both on a secret American government blacklist of organizations whose members were forbidden from entering the United States at the time."

This is truly unbelievable. This SS Galicia division veteran was also called by Canadian parliament speaker "Ukrainian hero" & "Canadian hero" & thanked "for his service." Did anyone in parliament or Zelensky realize that he served in Waffen SS division?

"Zelenskyy joins Canadian Parliament’s ovation to 98-year-old veteran who fought with Nazis. The man was part of SS Galichina, a unit whose history has been whitewashed by veterans groups in the West. The Canadian Parliament gave a standing ovation on Friday to a 98-year-old immigrant from Ukraine who fought in a Third Reich military formation accused of war crimes."

Polish media outlet reported my tweets. There is complete blackout of this epic scandal in mainstream Western media even though my research-based twitter threads concerning this issue already have nearly 2,000,000 views. tysol.pl/a110466-zelens…

I just gave interview concerning this story to leading Canadian media outlet.

I have interview requests concerning this story from two other leading Canadian media outlets. It would be a major story.

"OTTAWA - Several Jewish advocacy organizations are condemning members of Parliament for giving a standing ovation to a man who fought for a Nazi unit during the Second World War. During Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Ottawa on Friday, MPs honoured 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka in the House of Commons."

Major Austrian newspaper story based on my tweets: "Zelenskyj's visit: Applause for Waffen-SS veteran (98) in Canada's Parliament. Applause during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the Canadian Parliament for an immigrant “model Ukrainian” - but according to political scientist Ivan Katchanovski, he was a veteran of the 14th Waffen SS Division.

If the current allegations of the well-known political scientist and ex-Harvard professor Ivan Kalchanovski are confirmed, then the Ukrainian government has another problem - because the Russian media will probably also show these images from the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa: This is what is shown on a video Clip to see how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj (45) and his First Lady Olena (45) next to Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (51) as well as all MPs applaud an older gentleman in the spectator gallery - the standing ovation counts as this Yaroslav Hunka (98) from Ukraine was presented as a model migrant.

His life and his successful migration to Canada were intended to prove how closely Ottawa is connected to Kiev.

However, just a short time later, a posting by the political scientist Ivan Katchanovski on who is said to have committed numerous war crimes against Polish citizens and Jews.

In addition to operations at the front, young Ukrainians in this division, nicknamed “Galicia,” were often also involved in “anti-partisan combat” in the rear, which was usually nothing more than a cover for the war of extermination against the civilian population. In 1944/45 these volunteers took part in many war crimes in Poland and occupied Czechoslovakia. On May 8, 1945, the remnants of the division surrendered to British troops.

Political scientist stunned: “Ukrainian hero?”
When he saw these scenes from the acclaimed appearance of the Ukrainian senior Yaroslav Hunka in parliament, the political scientist Ivan Katchanovski was stunned: “This is really unbelievable. This veteran of the SS Galicia Division has now been called a 'Ukrainian Hero' and a 'Canadian Hero' by the Speaker of the Canadian Parliament - and he thanked him 'for his service'. Did anyone in parliament or Zelensky know that he served in the Waffen-SS division?”

As evidence of his allegations, the political scientist and author also posted photos on the web that allegedly show the soldier Yaroslav Hunka: “These are photos of the veteran of the SS Galicia Division, who was represented by the Canadian Parliament, the Canadian Prime Minister and the President of Ukraine received a standing ovation. He published these photos of himself in this department during his training in Germany.”

If the allegations are confirmed, this episode in the Canadian Parliament will be a serious embarrassment for the intelligence services in Canada and Ukraine: the fact that they have forgotten to check the life story of the Ukrainian model migrant presented and thus ensure that two Heads of state celebrating a Waffen SS veteran should not be inconvenient for Moscow - after all, Russian propaganda has been spreading the narrative for months that the invasion of Ukraine was used to combat National Socialists.

Sharply criticizes the honor: Ivan Katchanovski, professor of political science."

My @globeandmail interview: "House Speaker apologizes after MPs honour man who fought with Nazi unit. The scene in Parliament will have potentially serious ramifications beyond Canada, said Ivan Katchanovski, a University of Ottawa political scientist who has published on the SS unit and is writing a book about the Ukraine war. He called the standing ovation “beyond comprehension.”

He pointed out that Russia has falsely used the “de-Nazification” of Ukraine as propaganda to gain support for its invasion of the country last year “This will be used by Russia in the war against Ukraine,” he said, suggesting that both Canadian politicians and Mr. Zelensky will need to quickly distance themselves from the scene in Parliament.

Dr. Katchanovski says that the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS was renamed the First Ukrainian Division at the end of the war - a move to distance the unit from Nazi ties, and depict its members as fighting to protect Ukraine from a Russia invasion. But he said the volunteer unit was originally formed in 1943, after Germany lost the Battle of Stalingrad, under the Waffen SS, the combat branch of the Nazi Party’s paramilitary. Mr. Katchanovski says the unit has been linked to massacres of civilians carried out in villages in Poland. It has been a source of ongoing controversy in Ukraine, he says, with Mr. Zelenksy, who is Jewish, publicly condemning a march celebrating the unit that was held in Kyiv a few months before Russia’s invasion."

"The Speaker of the House apologized Sunday for prompting standing ovations in the House of Commons for a man who served in a Nazi SS unit in Ukraine during the Second World War and was invited as a “Canadian hero” to hear Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech to parliamentarians.

Following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech to Parliament on Friday, House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota drew attention to a 98-year-old man from North Bay, Ont., named Yaraslov Hunka, who was seated in the chamber as an invited guest, and lauded him for “fighting for Ukraine independence against the Russians” during the Second World War.

“He is a Ukrainian hero and a Canadian hero, and we thank him for all his service,” Mr. Rota said. His comment prompted cheers and two standing ovations from the House of Commons, which included Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mr. Zelensky.

But Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies said in a statement on the weekend that the man served in the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS, a Nazi military unit with documented evidence of “crimes against humanity” crimes during the Holocaust. “The fact that a veteran who served in a Nazi military unit was invited to and given a standing ovation in Parliament is shocking,” the group said, calling on the government to publicly apologize.

In a statement on Sunday, Mr. Rota said had “become aware of more information” that made him regret the decision to invite Mr. Hunka, who is from his riding, saying the “initiative was entirely my own.”

“I particularly want to extend my deepest apologies to Jewish communities in Canada and around the world. I accept full responsibility for my actions.”

A spokesperson from the Prime Minister’s Office said that “no advance notice was provided to the Prime Minister’s Office, nor the Ukrainian delegation, about the invitation or recognition.” The Speaker and the PMO operate independently, the spokesperson said, adding that Mr. Rota chose his own guests, and taking “full responsibility” was the “right thing to do.”

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, however, said Sunday that the prime minister also needed to “personally apologize” for what he called “an appalling error in judgement.” Mr. Poilievre pointed out that parliamentarians had no opportunity to vet the man’s past – a task for an important state visit that he said should have been handled by the Prime Minister’s Office. “Without warning or context, it was impossible for any parliamentarian in the room - other than Mr. Trudeau - to know of this dark past.”"

My @TorontoStar interview with photos that I found & tweeted: "The Galicia Division was formed in 1943 under German command from Ukrainian volunteers in Galicia region of Western Ukraine. Members of this division were involved in mass killings of Jews, Poles and Ukrainians,” said University of Ottawa political science professor Ivan Katchanovski.

“They massacred close to 1,000 Polish civilians in the village of Huta Peniatska and participated in other massacres of Polish civilians, as well as the suppression of the Warsaw uprising in 1944, and anti-Nazi uprisings in Slovakia and the former Yugoslavia.”"
