A lot of people have troubles finding the KING IN THE MIST stronghold fight in POE.
I think i have figured out a somewhat solid strategy to consistently find him.
If you're interested read on and also please share your experiences.
I fought him around 7+ times already.
1/n
Rule #1:
1) (basic knowledge) he only spawns in T14 maps. With this strategy you should be finding him around once in 15-20 maps tops.
You can even chain through poor T14 maps if you want to farm him for his loot or want to find him fast.
2/n
Rule #2:
When he spawns, he usually spawns in the diagonal directions of your spawn point (from the perspective of a screen).
I found him this way 6/7 times.
3/n
Rule #3
When he spawns next to your start location (as seen above), he will NOT have any wisps leading to him.
I mean he is the king IN THE MIST after all, not the one in the light.
This is the important part!
4/n
This means to find him, we have a very straight forward strat.
1) Enter wildwood
2) Run 3-4 seconds in a diagonal direction
3) Return if you hit a wall or a random wisp-event
4) Check other directions.

This is really all there's to it. I might be of course wrong and this is all coincidental.
