The End of Programming is near...
Here is exactly why I believe this.
Agree? Disagree? Let me know?
Three things I know to be true:
1. Programming is the best skillset I ever learned
2. Programming is really hard
3. Humans are bad at programming.
Started: brittle, unforgiving syntax, manual memory management, thinking about every single byte
Now: expressive, dynamic, meta-languages, automatic memory management, and a wide range of tools
Lots of advancements helping humans code better
But Github Copilot changed everything
Here's my current coding workflow:
But AI is so much better at coding than humans (and more efficient, and cheaper)
It has some limitations....
But those are being fixed quickly
And here's what coding will look like in the near future
Don't believe me? It's already starting...
We're going through a transitional period right now
Long term? This is what it will be...
And here's the timeline...
So, is coding still a critical skill set to learn?
