‼️ SEED SHORTAGE IN RUSSIA ‼️

I need to point out what is VERY INTERESTING ABOUTH THIS.

Forbes Russia:

“Before the spring sowing season, the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions complained about a shortage of imported seeds”

And we’re talking BIG SHORTAGES
🧅🥕🍅

Russia does not produce enough seeds domestically, they are imported.

They at least produce SOME, unlike hatching eggs. Which seems insane for a country as big as Russia…the biggest country on earth.

In the 2 regions discussed:

Astrakhan region has:
🍅 70% of the necessary tomato seeds

Volgograd region has:
🥕 20% of the necessary carrot seeds
🧅 20% of the necessary carrot seeds

So those are huge shortages. But here is where it gets INTERESTING

‼️The article states:

“The regions sent requests for supplies of planting material to France and Hungary, but received no response”

Were these businesses? There may not be sanctions but foreign businesses could CHOOSE not to do business with Russia

There’s more!

“The Astrakhansky Agro-Industrial Complex, Russia’s largest producer of tomato paste, also faced a shortage of seeds”

They indicated that they get 35% of all their 🍅 tomato seeds from Holland (The Netherlands 🇳🇱)

It indicates there was a ban, so we need to switch articles:

In this article from November, it indicates that Russia banned seeds from The Netherlands due to a disease affecting pumpkins.

That is not strange or outrageous.

BUT THERE IS AN INTERESTING PART.

forbes.ru/biznes/501056-…

“In addition, restrictions are introduced on the supply of seed material accompanied by documents issued by the Enza-Zaden Operalions BY laboratory…”

“…They will apply “until confirmation of the competence, methods and research results of this laboratory based on the results of an audit by Rosselkhoznadzor.””

‼️“the National Organization for Quarantine and Plant Protection of the Netherlands has not responded to requests for a year and a half to confirm the phytosanitary status of batches of seed and planting material sent to Russia”

‼️ “The Dutch regulator did not respond to Russia’s repeated proposals to audit it.”

So the Netherlands…who definitely aren’t happy with Russia considering RUSSIA SHOT DOWN THEIR PASSENGER PLANE, are just ignoring them.

““We are heavily dependent on the import of Dutch seeds, especially in greenhouse vegetable growing and flower growing; the Netherlands accounts for up to a third of all supplies,””

Lolololololol

You know, when you’ve got your propaganda machine running around being jerks to everyone. There are consequences.

Why do so many people think that being an
A$$HAT equals strength. And I think that’s about all that Russia’s MFA does.

Let’s go back to the original article now.

So to recap, the following countries are not taking Russia’s call for these seeds:

🇫🇷 France
🇭🇺 Hungary
🇳🇱 The Netherlands

And Russia does not have any more tomato seeds. They’ve sold what they have.

“According to Zaitsev, tomato seeds are not produced in the required volumes in Russia. “It’s no longer possible to ask suppliers to sell to us - they simply don’t have them. Therefore, this is a serious problem for us, which has not yet been resolved,” he concluded.”

“The dependence of Russian producers of open-ground vegetables on imported seeds (primarily imported from the Netherlands and Germany) was also stated by the head of the Potato Union apparatus, Tatyana Gubina.”

‼️ Russia depends on imported seeds

“The Ministry of Agriculture reported that as of January 15, 60% of open-ground vegetables were provided with seeds, this coincides with last year’s figures, and the purchase of seeds continues.”

My question is:

Are they saying that Russia has produced the same amount of seeds as last year. And therefore NOW there’s going to be a new shortage because they lost the foreign seeds?

Or

Is the exact same amount of seeds total as they had last year?

In the best case scenario, where they have the same total amount of seeds as last year, inflation was STILL huge.

Although the seed supply for Russia is a big story, I think just as big is learning that

🇳🇱 The Netherlands
🇫🇷 France
🇭🇺 Hungary

Aren’t taking their calls.

People don’t like it when you try to freeze them, bomb food supplies, shoot down their planes, etc.

Don’t forget that back in 2014 Russia banned the import of a lot if stuff INCLUDING VEGETABLES from:

🇺🇸 U.S.
🇪🇺 EU
🇦🇺 Australia
🇨🇦 Canada
🇳🇴 Norway
