Jupiter: The Supreme Deity of the Roman Empire🧵
The earliest Gnostic sects ascribe the work of CREATION to ANGELS, some of them using the same passage in Genesis. Irenaeus tells of the systems of Simon Magus, Menander, & Saturninus, in which the number of these angels is SEVEN.
In the System of Basilides, the Universe was made by the Angels (Angles of Light) who occupy the lowest heaven; but special mention is made of their chief, who is said to have been the God of the Jews, to have led that people out of the land of Egypt, and to have given their LAW.
The prophecies are ascribed not to thischief but to the other world-making Angels.
Angels or Archons?
Valentinus states the making of the world is ascribed to a company of Seven Archons, whose names are given, but still more promineèeŕèent is their chief, "Yaldabaoth".
Gnosticism presents a distinction between the Highest, Unknowable God or Supreme Being & the demiurgic "creator" of the material, Yaldaboath.
The Demiurge, fearing Jesus, who he had intended as his Messiah, would spread the knowledge of the Monad, had him crucified by the Jews.
At the consummation of ALL, all light will return to the Source; but Ialdabaoth will be cast into the lower depth. Christ, in reality, is the Son of the Good God, the Monad. The True Believer entered into God's kingdom, the unbeliever remained forever the slave of the Demiurge.
According to the Naassenes the G-d of the Jews is not merely díkaios, but he is the Great Archon Ialdabaoth, often identified with the God of the Midnight Sun SATURN (Cronus).
Ἰαὼ was an early form of the Tetragrammaton, the Sacred Name of the Hebrew G-d.
From the second century A.D., mainstream Christians believed that Ἰαὼ was the Name of God, until it was replaced by the name Jehovah or Yahweh in the Middle Ages.
We can find hundreds of uses of the name Ἰαὼ (Yaho) in the first five centuries A.D.
It appears on papyri, rings, metal plates & more. Ἰαὼ is also found in the world history of Diordorus Siculus and the Dead Sea Scrolls, written well before the time of Christ.
In about 50 B.C., Siculus wrote, “Moses referred his laws to the God who is invoked as Ἰαὼ"
The early Church fathers even believed that ‘Ἰαὼ was in the Name of Jesus, Joshua, Ἰωσουὲ, which was interpreted as ‘Ἰαὼ (Yaho) saves".
Irenaeus in "Against Heresies" described the Gnostic belief that Ἰαὼ was born of Yaltabaoth and that Sabaoth was, also, born of Ἰαὼ.
Irenaeus wrote, "They have also given names to [the several persons] in their system of falsehood, such as the following: he who was the first descendant of the mother is called Yaltaboth; he, again, descended from him, is named Ιaω; he, from this one, is called Sabaoth."
Roman Official Macrobius Theodosius regarded Ἰαώ as the Supreme God, above all others gods.
However, according to Hypostasis of the Archons and On the Origin of the World, Sabaoth dethrones his father the Blind G-d Yaldabaoth.
In both accounts, Sabaoth repents, when he hears the voice of Sophia, condemns his father and his mother (matter) and after that is enthroned by Sophia in the seventh heaven. This lines up with Greek Mythology where Cronus was usurped by his son, Zeus (Jupiter).
Therefore, Cronus (Saturn) can be identified with the Great Archon Yaldabaoth, the Celestial Demiurge, who blocks the Soul's return back to the Pleroma or Source.
Some Church Fathers report on the other hand, that Gnostics identified Sabaoth with Ialdaboath himself.
But not all Gnostic Sects agreed.
Some Gnostic Christians considered the Hebrew God of the Old Testament, as the evil, false god and creator of the material BUT the Unknown God of the Gospel, the father of Jesus Christ and creator of the spiritual world, was the true, good God.
Others identify Yahweh with Jupiter (Son of Saturn) & Sabaoth, the Son of Yaldabaoth .
In his Hebrew Lexicon, Wilhelm Gesenius suggests that the name Ιαβε, Yahweh, originated from Jupiter, who according to Justin Martyr was the supreme Deity of the Emperor & the Roman Empire.
The word Jupiter, transliterated from Latin to Greek is Ιαβε, pronounced “Yahweh".
In Latin, Jupiter is Jove. Latin has no J. The pronunciation of J is Y. The short “o” is the “aw” sound in “off.” In Latin, the V is pronounced W, making the Latin pronunciation of Jove as Yahweh.
It's worth mentioning that, like English, their is 26 Letters in the Latin Alphabet and 26 is the Number of Yahweh.
In Hippolytus’ Refutation of All Heresies a Gnostic group called Peratics specifically name Cronus, or Saturn, as Demiurge and the Lord of Mortal Generation.
Celsus, a Greek philosoher, agreed identifing Ialdabaoth with Cronus and Sabaoth & Adonai with Jupiter.
Hippolytus writes, "For Cronus is a cause to every generation, in regard of succumbing under destruction, there could not exist generation in which Cronus does not interfere".
Jupiter was the chief deity of the Roman State Religion until Constantine replaced his worship with Christianity & Christ. Jupiter then was transformed into Saint Peter, who each year thousands make Pilgrimage to kiss his feet. Others claim the name Jesus means "Hail Zeus!".
The Emperor Hadrain and others thought that the Hebrew God was Jupiter (Jove/ Zeus), as both were seen as Sky Gods, King of Kings, El Elyon, Ruler of the Cosmos, were without equal among the gods, and were of a beneficial and generous character according go their worshippers.
Many Romans also regarded the Hebrew God as identical with the Semitic Storm God Hadad, the Phoenician Sky God Baal Hammon & the Egyptian God Zeus Ammon (Amun). Hadrian even had statues of Jupiter and himself, as deified emperor, set up on the remains of the Temple Mount.
However, others believed Hadrian had incorrectly identified the Hebrew God with Jupiter who was truly Saturn, better known as the Original Father of God El or Cronus.
Plotinus metaphorically identified the Demiurge (or nous) within the pantheon of Greek G-ds as Zeus.
He believed the Monad emanated the demiurge or Nous (consciousness) from its "indeterminate" vitality due to the Monad being so abundant that it overflowed back onto itself, causing self-reflection. The Monad became known as the God of Reflections.
In the 4th Century, Epiphanius of Salamis reported that Severian Encratites believed Sabaoth and Ialdabaoth to be one and the same, the God of Law, and therefore evil. Others like, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, identified Yahweh with the Egyptian Storm God SET.
The Question Remains: Are many still unknowingly worshipping Jupiter?
Is Jupiter (Jove) anagolous to Jehovah? Is Zeus Pater simply St. PETER?
Are the Sons of Jupiter still pulling the strings being the World Stage?
The Roman Empire NEVER fell, it simply became a CHURCH.
