China uses an HIV medication called Azvudine (FNC), a thymus-homing HIV drug that's also a nucleoside analog that inhibits SARS RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). These two properties are unique to HIV ART medications.

I prefer not to discuss treatment options or promote one pharmaceutical solution over another. There are many HIV ART medications which can effectively prevent RNA reproduction (tend to be toxic) but the KEY IS TIMING.
The key is TESTING for SARS persistence!
A dual-class inhibitor HIV medication that targets reverse transcriptase and HIV-1 accessory protein (Vif) simultaneously, is going to be toxic at regular doses - but no longer toxic if lower doses are administered for only 9 days.

China primarily uses Azvudine as a PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylactic) where the key is testing & early intervention to prevent chronic infection. After 12 weeks, Azvudine only prevents the progression of #LongCOVID and doesn't "cure" SARS persistence.

China switched over to Nucleic Acid Negative Conversion (NANC) testing methodology. Same as HIV has seroconversion baselines, but, China is resolving NANC in 10-14D after Azvudine treatment.
