🧵The Australian Tax Office (ATO) raid on the Plymouth Brethren offices in Sydney.

I am informed this involved 25+ investigators from the ATO. They were there from Tuesday 19th March. They have taken away computers, phones.

Brethren companies won £3 billion of Covid contract.

I believe ATO visited 12 brethren linked premises as part of this unannounced raid.

In response to the Sydney Morning Herald brethren spokesman Merrick Lloyd Grimshaw said "the church does not operate any businesses or occupy offices at the location where the ATO has visited”.

Grimshaw (sometimes known as Lloyd sometimes as Merrick) just happens to be director of the following brethren charities PBCC Services PTY Ltd, Rapid Relief Team (RRT) Ltd and the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.

You would therefore think that he would know that both PBCC Services PTY Ltd & Rapid Relief Team RRT Ltd list as their head offices, the premises at the centre of the ATO raid. The address The Precinct, Herb Elliott Way, Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney.

He stated that the church does not operate any business. Yet again the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) governing document lists just one member, that member being the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church. Which would show that they operate the RRT and would suggest Grimshaw is incorrect.

It is also worth noting that PBCC Service PTY Ltd is funded by a $100,000 loan from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.

Other brethren companies operating from the Precinct include UBT, OneSchool Global, Campus & Co, National Assistance Fund & Vision Foundation Fund.

UBT is the epicentre of the brethren, providing business services, consultancy, fleet, IT, HR to brethren member companies. It also helps fund OneSchool Global, and manages Campus & Co. Turnover globally is £250 million of which £100 million is in the UK.

OneSchool Global runs the 126 global Plymouth Brethren Schools. Annual spend circa £120 million to run the schools (some grant funded).

Campus & Co run the retail shops for the brethren, only brethren members can shop at Campus & Co. (Estimated annual sales £100 million).

National Assistance Fund is the brethren charity that acts has a funnel for money between UBT & OSG. In Australia links directly to church leader Bruce D Hales. No changes to the deed can be made without his approval.
Vision Foundation Fund is the investment arm of the brethren

In the UK the brethren operate an identical set up. The location is the Precinct, Posiedon Way, Warwick, CV34 6BY. It is again home to UBT, OSG, RRT, Campus & Co, NAF & Vision Invest Fund.

It would be interesting if HMRC/NCA carried out similar raids or if they will be doing?

Back to Australia, the crossover between the brethren businesses & charities can be mind blowing. It is easiest to explain by looking at individuals. Like Rick Grosse, Lance Nipper, Kevin Dunlop.

Rick Grosse according to his LinkedIn is treasurer at UBT & Oneschool Global, he is listed on Australian Charities as the contact for NAF, he is also a director of The Trustee for the Vision Foundation and the Rapid Relief Team.

Lance Nipper is a director of the The Trustee for the Vision Foundation, PBCC Services PTY Ltd & other brethren charities. He is also a director in the UK of Universal Support Team.

Kevin Dunlop is a director of PBCC Services PTY Ltd & other brethren charities. Dunlop is an accountant, he is the auditor of the accounts of The Trustee for the Vision Foundation. Yes, he is auditing brethren charity accounts!
He is a director in the UK of brethren entities

The brethren companies/charities are an interwoven web of connections between many brethren members often linking back to the leader Bruce Hales, his family and his acolytes. Many of these charities are sat on millions. E.g The Grace Trust in the UK sat with £60+ million in cash

The ATO raid is long overdue in my personal opinion. Brethren leaders have been spending many, many millions on property across the globe. We will see where all our taxpayer money went in the UK for funding the Covid Contracts and if any of it has broken tax laws.

It would be great to see similar actions being taken by our government and HMRC. I won't hold my breath, you have to remember the brethren are just as woven into the Tories.

I will add that it is suggested that co-ordination of the Covid contracts was directed by UBT in Sydney.
The brethren number just 55,000 and yet when you look at the wealth being accumulated, some on the back of being a church with charitable status, there are many questions!

Finally I was asked recently to put a value on the assets of the 55,000 members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian & the church. My conservative estimate is that they are worth a staggering £20 billion. Yet some at the bottom end of the brethren pyramid are using food banks.
