Reading the FCC Approval for $ASTS Block 1 and updating the DD. First let's remember the over arching FCC decision structure:
docs.fcc.gov/public/attachm…
FCC first just says, "yup, people gonna love this shit." So yeah, being able to use your phone in an emergency is in the public interest
FCC highlights that additional approvals for SCS will be forthcoming
I found this part fascinating...as above says, FCC is not relying on a "promise," but that $ASTS has shown it can do it
Corrupt lobbyists had argued that $ASTS had missed the licensing round and would have to wait a half a decade to get V-band space. FCC gives $ASTS what it asked for
ASTS showed that it will not cause interference despite attempts at FUD to say that they will
Corrupt lobbyists had been relentless at lying to scare investors that $ASTS was not compliant with orbital debris measures. This is patently false.
FUDers had also said $ASTS would lose its place in line b/c of amendments. The FCC says, "let's be commercial and think constructively." God I love America. We are so un-Soviet sometimes...feels good
