1. US 10Y Treasury Yield: Yields touched 5 % & were expected to go to 6 % which meant a fantastic Risk Free rate of return. What is really happening now ???
2. $ strengthening against the Rupee : DXY @ 110 & was expected to move to 115-120, thereby crushing Rupee to 95 to 100. What is really happening now ?
3. OIL : Oil was supposed to touch 3 figures, thereby making Indian Markets unattractive due to perceived rise in Inflation. What is really happening now ??
4. MOMENTUM : US had the momentum, while India did not since there were mounting problems due to Govt apathy
5. HIGH VALUATIONS : India was the "Most Expensive Market" in the World. Quit India : At the peak Nifty had a P/E ratio of 24. Current P/E is around 20 which is almost the lowest since April 2021. Bank Nifty P/E is at a decadal low @ 12.7
Quiet on India : The estimated P/E Ratio for S&P 500 Index is 25.63, calculated on 10 March 2025. .
Considering the last 5 years, an average P/E interval is [19.11 - 23.89]. For this reason, the current P/E can be considered Overvalued
6. SYSTEM APATHY : Quit India :1. SEBI embroiled in Controversies 2. Tight Fiscal Policy (Government not spending) 3. Tight Monetary Policy 4. High CPI print 5. Poor Corporate results
What is really happening now ?
1. New SEBI Chair more receptive to Market Dynamics (Listening to FIIs) 2. Budget does a fine balance between being Stimulative & yet reining in Fiscal Deficit. 3. CRR cut; Repo Rate Cut (& more expected) ; OMOs & other Instruments etc. Essentially, flooding the system with Liquidity. 4. CPI on a downward slope & expected to drop further. 5. Corporates forward guidance Bullish. Yet, Quiet on India ?
