Young Catholics have sacrificed everything to stay Catholic.
They’ve lost friends, faced mockery, and chosen truth over comfort.
So why do church leaders keep praising other religions? (thread) 🧵
The Church is still full of Boomer Catholicism
Optimistic, open-minded, and liberal.
You’ll hear them say things like
“All religions have something good to offer!”
Boomer Catholicism is not heretical, it's just a product of its time
The post-war world needed unity
We could "respect" other religions (while maintaining that ours is the truth)
Zoomer Catholicism is different
Young Catholics today are more likely to say things like
“Catholicism is true. Every other religion is wrong. Everyone should be Catholic”
But Zoomer Catholicism is ALSO a product of its time
The culture today is more anti-Catholic than the world of the Boomers.
Young Catholics today face DAILY criticism for being Catholic
They are Catholic by choice. Because they know its true.
And they find Boomer Catholicism insulting.
Which makes sense.
Imagine you spend all day hearing your coworker rant about how Lent is pagan
Then you hear a bishop say “Lent is like Catholic Ramadan!”
You ask yourself, “Really? Why am I suffering so much if all religions are the same?”
That’s what Boomer Catholics need to understand about young people
Young people need to be told what is true.
Young Catholics need to be encouraged in their choice to remain Catholic
They need to hear cardinals say, “Catholicism is true. Keep going.”
Our Church needs Bishops to be generals, not diplomats.
If Bishops want to speak to young people (and I think they do)
They need to understand why Zoomer Catholicism is so appealing
Tell them: “This is what truth is.”
Warn them: “Don’t be an a-hole about it.”
Boomer Catholicism may have worked in the 1960s.
But it’s 2025.
Zoomer Catholicism is appropriate for our cultural moment.
And the Church needs to embrace it.
We’ve helped over 6,000 Catholics share their faith.
Our goal is to hit 10,000 before the end of 2025
