It was a lightning round.
Dan Bongino just answered rapid-fire questions about where the FBI is headed—and what they’re working on behind the scenes.
What’s happening every day in this country should have every American paying attention.
Then he dropped a bombshell about the origins of COVID…
And took a shot at James Comey.
🧵 THREAD
The first question was about the top priorities of the FBI and the answer was horrifying.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino opened with a blunt warning: the FBI’s top priority is stopping American cities from being blown off the map.
“We can't have New York, D.C., or L.A. go boom,” he said.
That possibility, he stressed, is not theoretical—it drives every morning briefing.
Alongside Director Kash Patel, Bongino treats it as their baseline mission.
But bomb plots aren’t the only threat keeping them up at night.
Right beneath that headline concern, Bongino pointed to two equally urgent dangers: cyberattacks capable of crippling infrastructure and foreign actors targeting U.S. intelligence.
“The massive cyber threat, the counterintelligence threat,” he said, are now “co-equal priorities.”
And then there’s the border.
With millions crossing into the country, Bongino says the real danger lies not just in the numbers—but in the intentions of those slipping through.
“There are people here… who want to do bad things—I think that is fairly obvious.”
That’s why, according to Bongino, FBI teams are already in the field before most Americans wake up—tracking threats, executing removals, and dismantling plots before they materialize.
“We have our FBI teams out there at 4:00 A. and 5:00 AM—removing these people from the country, while still preventing a terror attack.”
And for those still pushing euphemisms or soft language around terrorism, Bongino had a message:
“We're not the Federal Bureau of freaking word games anymore.”
If someone attacks civilians while shouting extremist slogans and hurling incendiary devices, it’s not going to be labeled “civil unrest.” It’s going to be called what it is.
“We're damn well going to investigate it—as targeted violence and a terror attack.”
Then, with frustration rising, he drove the point home.
“What the hell do you want us to investigate it as? A freaking grand larceny auto?!”
No more games, no more spin. Bongino says the era of political caution is over.
The conversation pivoted from national security to another high-stakes issue—one that’s haunted the public for years.
Hannity asked what many have long suspected: did the government lie about the origins of COVID?
“Covid origins, are we going to find out information that the government lied to us?”
That's when Bongino dropped a bombshell.
“You're damn right you are. We're all over that.”
When pressed further—was it deliberate?—he detailed what's coming.
“Well, you're going to find out. Yeah, listen that's the one I am the most optimistic about.”
He revealed that under his watch, the investigation is already back on the table.
“I was pretty clear on my social media account that I ordered that case immediately to be looked into again. We have a great investigator on it and I think we should see action on that one shortly.”

Now, back to the story you came for.
But while Bongino’s eyes are set on what’s ahead, he’s not ignoring the mess left behind.
Hannity asked if previous FBI personnel were going to be investigated.
Bongino zeroed in on former FBI Director James Comey—someone who’s taken shots at Bongino and Patel in the press.
But Bongino says the facts speak louder than any insult.
“Comey, as a matter of fact, the guy who has a lot to say, ironically, about me and Kash—and that's fine, you know, he is allowed an opinion, he is a free American citizen like anybody else—but we found the items.”
And what they found wasn’t minor.
“I addressed this on Fox & Friends and I can go into a little bit more detail, but we found the things.”
“We found documents—documents that were not where they should have been. And they were not good flattering documents for Jim Comey.”
For Bongino, it’s not just about one man—it’s about a culture that he believes eroded the agency’s integrity.
“The hubris displayed from a man like Jim Comey who disgraced the FBI numerous times with his role in Crossfire Hurricane and other abominations, it's just kind of stunning that he continues to attack our leadership, when we have to clean up the mess that Jim Comey created.”
And the cleanup, he says, isn’t over.
“As we continue to find stuff from his era and vintage.”

So where does it all go from here?
Hannity’s final question was what will FBI look like a year into a second Trump administration?
Bongino’s answer: a total overhaul.
“A year from now, I want the FBI to have played a key role in the deportation of hundreds of thousands of violent criminals from the United States.”
“I want the FBI to have thwarted multiple terror plots that we can't tell you about every day.”
But those victories, he explained, aren’t always visible—and that’s the point.
“Sean, every morning we do a briefing, Kash and I, with our ops directors. We can't sit here and take a victory lap every time something does not go boom.”
“Matter of fact we almost never do it because we can't.”
Still, Bongino laid out an aggressive blueprint that extends beyond physical attacks—tackling espionage, cyber warfare, and drone threats head-on.
“I want to make sure that our counterintelligence operation is top-notch.”
“That the ever present threat of the Chinese Communist Party infiltrating our systems, cyber spying on us—that by the end we have made significant progress.”
“I want to be sure the drone threat—that we've taken action on it, not just talked about it.”
And when it’s all said and done, Bongino says the results should be felt by everyday Americans—not just read in a press release.
“I want to make sure we can look back to the American people and say, look—with President Trump's leadership, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Director Patel—the murder rate is at a historic low.”
“Crime rates have gone down.”
“The border is sealed, and your FBI took a part in that.”
