Smith was confronted on the lack of lobbyist status for Sam Mraiche and MHCare at today's presser.

She seemed to claim that because he didn't have direct contracts with government that it was not a problem.

Let's go down that rabbit hole, shall we?

While neither Mraiche or MHCare are registered as lobbyists...

Alberta Surgical Group not only is, but they're using the finance ministers relative to lobby the finance minister and Smith among others...

/2

As our own corporate records searches demonstrated, Mraiche was also in business with owners of ASG in four companies (at least).

These companies were later identified by the globe as the expansion companies for more chartered surgical facilities...

/3

So Smith's argument here is very confusing.

If not outright contradictory.

Especially when you consider how the ethics commissioner defined lobbying...

/4

The ethics commissioner also defined what makes someone an organizational lobbyist...

How long is the average hockey game alone?

/5

But here's where it gets extra spicy...

Because the if you go through the Lobbyist Act it directs you to the conflict of interest act to define what organizations lobbyists need to register to address...

/6

And given all this and that at least the Finance Minister accepted tickets, we're back to a question that we asked almost a year ago...

How have there been no resignations?

Or terminations?
