But did you know that the clock is synchronized with the Sun? It tracks solar noon, the Sun’s position, moon phases, and stellar precession.

Most importantly, it displays the movement of the five visible planets, the 'fixed stars' within the constellations, and tracks the precession of the equinoxes—a 26,000-year cycle. This precession is the foundation of the astrological ages (e.g., the transition from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius).

So where are they placing this clock to protect it from the geophysical event?

The clock is being constructed deep inside a limestone mountain in the Sierra Diablo range near Van Horn, Texas, in a very remote and rugged desert location. The elevation of the site is estimated to be approximately 6,000 feet (1,830 meters).

Visiting the site requires a full-day hike over rough terrain, ascending about 2,000 feet in elevation (from the entrance), and entering tunnels that lead deep into the mountain.

They are building this clock at a high elevation to protect it from potential flooding, and inside a mountain to shield it from the geophysical event.

The idea for this clock comes from the Long Now Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 by Danny Hillis, Stewart Brand, Brian Eno, and Kevin Kelly. Jeff Bezos later joined as the project's main funder and host.

In my opinion, the founders of the Long Now Foundation were also behind the placement of the Georgia Guidestones in 1980, which were later bombed and destroyed in 2022. Why? Well, now this thread is about to get a lot more interesting! (4/10)🧵

Built on March 22, 1980 (3/22—Skull & Bones number), the Georgia Guidestones stood in Elbert County, Georgia.

They engraved 10 principles such as:
- “Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.”

- “Guide reproduction wisely.”

- “Unite humanity with a new language.”

These messages were carved in eight modern languages: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian.

The Guidestones acted as a modern Rosetta Stone—a reset guide for the next civilization after a geophysical event. Even if only one language survived, future generations could decode the rest, just as scholars used Greek to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphs. A survival manual, carved in stone.

It can be read with optical magnification (1,000x)—no computers or electricity required—and contains parallel texts in over 1,500 languages.

It includes selections such as the Book of Genesis, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, grammar information, basic vocabulary, and pronunciation guides.

Stores approximately 13,000 pages of information on one side

Inscribed in a spiral pattern to conserve space and allow readability through simple magnification

Described as “a durable, analog backup of human language knowledge for the deep future”

One Rosetta Disk is intended to be stored alongside the 10,000-Year Clock, deep inside a mountain in West Texas.

The texts contain references and pages related to farming, survival, and more, but the Long Now Foundation also launched a separate initiative—the Manual for Civilization—which aims to preserve essential survival knowledge, such as agriculture, mechanics, health, and infrastructure.

This shifts the mission from just “long-term thinking” to preserving knowledge for a coming geophysical event. (6/10)🧵

So now you can see how the site of the 10,000-Year Clock is gradually becoming a knowledge preservation hub. Built in an undisclosed location, in a rugged desert and mountainous region at high elevation, reaching it would require a pilgrimage-like effort. It is designed to be protected from geophysical event and does not require electricity to access its contents.

Once they saw that the project would be completed on time, the Georgia Guidestones were no longer needed. They were bombed and destroyed because they had started attracting too much attention.
