I have a few updates for the Re-Enlightened PC that I built yesterday! Let's talk about them in a 🧵 here

First of all, I completed a retr0brite on the combo floppy disk drive. I think it looks a little better now! Still not a perfect match, but close enough!

Second, I swapped out the Trident PCI video card for an S3 86C75 Virge/DX PCI card. I actually tried two Trident cards, and they were both being a pain. This card looks SHARP! Very pleased with it.

Third, I worked through some issues with the combo floppy drive. I think it got somewhat out of alignment. I gave it a quick cleaning and kept on trying disks, eventually it reset itself. These things are known to be super fragile.

I also took some time to try out Wake on LAN. I used the DOS utility driver that I wrote last time to "force" the card to be ready to wake up! I also make sure settings were set in BIOS

Here's a little video demonstrating wake on LAN. I used my phone to send a "magic packet." Had to get out my fancy camera for this shot since I usually film with my phone 😂

Anyway, that's all for now. I am absolutely LOVING this new old stock case. And don't worry, I have a beige CD-ROM on the way. Thanks for following along!
