Okay, time to explore the Compaq Presario 2200 that I brought back from Dallas! Like all of these, this one is a bit of a mixed bag. Let's have a look in a 🧵 here!

So, first, like 100% of these I have seen, the plastics in the front are very brittle. This front panel has previously been glued on, you can see some glue residue here and there!

Here's the back of the PC. Nope, these systems do not have PCI expansion, and have one "weird" 8 bit ISA expansion slot for a modem!

Here's a look inside. The HDD has been replaced with a CF card. And look at that cute little power supply!

If you remove two screws, the whole front of the system slides out. This reveals four screws where you can remove the optical drive.

And that's exactly what we are going to do. Why? I am going to use duct tape to tape the optical to the front of the PC case. That will keep it in place!

After the PC is all back together, we can see that it boots up and appears to work perfectly. Great!

One thing I noticed is that the FDD button likes to fall off. I glued it on with some super glue. Hopefully it stays in place... no promises though!

Well, anyway, that's going to do it for this little Cyrix MediaGX based PC. I already have a "nicer" version of this PC, so this one is going on the free table at the next meetup, whatever that is. Thanks for following along!
