In Bostock, SCOTUS vaguely banned anti-trans discrim at work.
Do employers have to let men into the women's changing room? Or does Bostock just protect the men's right to have female names?
ACLU argues employers must pretend workers are the sex they say they are. Biden's EEOC moved to ban women-only changing rooms and "misgendering" at work, citing Bostock.
Strangio doesn't want NYT subscribers to know all that so she just talks about men fired for having the name Mary.

Strangio's agenda in court is to "destabilize" the M/F binary. She's admitted this.
She herself identifies as nonbinary.
She represents NB clients suing Trump to be recognized as NB.
But she pretends to live in Binary World for this interview.

1⃣ Strangio has disparaged the idea of innate gender identity elsewhere.
2⃣ Trans activists have been saying "maybe fetal hormone exposure?" for 60 years. The hypothesis was disproved but they keep repeating it.

It is, actually, just about appearance!
You'd expect gender doctors to tout the emotional effects of hormones but they don't. ACLU describes all the drugged kids, M and F, as "outgoing."
They're trying to avoid talk of sex differences that could turn off liberal allies.

Strangio thinks of herself as nonbinary but pretends to think she's male when talking to normies.
If she's a man, why does she give off a "lighter springs than Glenna at Pilates" vibe?
Because she accepts the reality of her androgyny (not to be confused with femaleness).

Strangio repeatedly characterizes her adversaries as anxious and fearful.
This implies
1⃣ There's no objective reason to oppose trans ideology
2⃣ We are cowards
This echoes trans attacks on lesbians who won't date men in dresses.

Douthat politely says that's contested. He should let the NYT audience know Strangio lied.

👉 What are the pros and cons of hot flashes?
👉 Is it better to have a full-length penis or a painful stump?

Throughout, Douthat critiques Strangio's tactics.
Nothing on the collapse of trans "medical" authority, the teens saying gender doctors defrauded them, or the industry-wide refusal to define gender.
