It is common knowledge that Asian admits to the Ivy Leagues have higher standardized test scores than their white peers. This is driven by South and Southeast Asians; East Asians have comparable admission odds given the same scores as their white peers.
Why? Mostly legacy admissions. Comparing legacies to legacies and non-legacies to non-legacies, the admissions gap by score almost vanishes, and there are more East Asian legacies than other groups (longer tenure in the country).
You could argue that, given East Asians prep harder than other groups, that the same score reflects lower ability than other Asians or their white peers and so this is unfair.
Also legacy admissions should be abolished.
