Peter “file” Tatchell, who said 9yr old boys can consent to sex with adults, has deleted his Werther effect tweet saying suicides are up 600% after puberty stunting ban. Since propagandists don’t read sources let me debunk this headline with their own numbers. 👇🧵1/
The 600% increase apparently comes from 22 over 4 (5 one year) which isn’t 600%. But if you actually read the @GoodLawProject criteria the numbers become a different percentage. (4 to 22 and pink news said “nearly six times” so PETERFILE said 600%)
4x6=24. 4+600%=28. ROUND UP! 2/
But look even in their own data it’s a blip that went back down. 2019-2025
N=46
2019-20: 5
2020-21: 4
2021-22: 22
2022-23: 10
2023-24: 3
2024-25: 2
They say note more recent might be incomplete but it went down nearly half from 21-22 to 22-23. 3/
There is not proof at all over any correlation to lack of puberty blockers with intention to end their life. But let’s look at the percentages whole over that time frame within their parameters compared to all 0-17yr old suicides from 2019-2025. 4/
All under 18 suicides from 2029-2025=647
Of those that were known to be identified as LGBTQ+=107
So 16% of all those deaths according to their data are LGB trans or queer which could mean anything like a spicy straight nonbinary. We aren’t given a year to year breakdown.
If we had a year to year breakdown we could see if the surges matches across the whole cohort of all kids or just trans, this omission was probably just an oversight and not politically motivated fear mongering. 84% of child suicides are not rainbow flag related.
So out of the 107 how many were trans identified (including nonbinary etc?)
46. So that’s 7% of all cases but 42% of all LGBTQ according to their numbers.
The numbers decrease when they add “gender dysphoria” So 1% of all cases included that word, 23% of all TQ+
Of those only 6 had dysphoria as a possible cause of their act. So that is only 0.9% of all case. 13% of TQ+
So 87% of TQ didn’t have evidence of their dysphoria being cause but were are supposed to assume all of the 22 were due to blocker bans?
Then it gets even weirder and smaller. Cases where there was gender distress? Only 3 out 647.
0.4% of all cases
Only 6% of all TQ+
Finally out of all 647, Zero had “gender-related distress” as a know cause. No need to make a percentage of that cause it’s none.
So what’s we know? According to the good laws own numbers the number went up but then down again peaking in 2021 to 2022. There is no data to see if all cases peaked over this sale period which was also coincidentally the period right at the heart of the Covid pandemic
So where are they getting this notion that it was only the Keira Bell case in September 21 that caused this? Because puberty blockers for trans identifying people were not banned in 2021. It wasn’t until 2024 that it was implemented. So why would they say this?
It’s probably bc Jolyon of the Good Law Project has a statistically high number of trans identified children. There is no evidence the surge during the COVID pandemic was related to a permanent ban that happened 3 years later.
The Cass Review wasn’t even out until 2024. So all of these claims are easily debunked. The interim report didn’t even come out until March 22 which is even after this “surge.” The results all came in 2024. Again this surge was mostly likely across all youths and pandemic related
Also out of all the cases of under 18 suicides there are no listed data that excludes a similar surge during the pandemic for all youth suicide so these “findings” and headlines are bunk propaganda without merit.
Reminder 84% of those children did not identify as LGBTQ+
Fortunately the numbers are small but the Good Law Project, Pink News and Peter Tatchell exploiting the deaths of children, using the pandemic as well, to create a martyrdom narrative in kids’ minds to push unethical, medical malpractice is vile.
Disgusting zealots of harm.
Atrocious typos on my part but the numbers are still a lie
