As New York City is about to get hit with another huge blast of snow while still not cleaned up from the one two weeks ago, I'm just going to re-up this post.
When a city loses the ability to clear snow, it's because the position that used to go to an Old White Guy Who Worries About Shit is now going to a Party Commissar who doesn't know how to do anything as a reward for... something.
It could be a reward for the person's race or gender or sexual orientation. It doesn't matter. The point is that it's going to someone who has no ability to do the job and is not even aware that the job needs to be done.
If you've appointed a desert dwelling immigrant who arrived in the US 2 years ago the job of managing snow cleanup, your city is cooked.
And, to be clear, the new replacement voters that put Mamdani in office will not realize they made a mistake and put people who can accomplish tasks back in office because they have never had a municipal government that accomplishes tasks.
They all came from places with corrupt, bribable governments. They don't know that it can be any other way. So of course you give the government money and get nothing in return unless you bribe the right people; after all, they have the guns.
