You know, America “Christianity” never fails to show its complete lack on Biblical knowledge.
MAGA, of course are attacking the Pope in favour of Trump.
The pope actually used one of strongest biblical arguments for God’s rejection of war waging prayers. And “Christians” just
don’t get it. America might be the most biblical illiterate countries in the world. They don’t even understand the basic difference between divine judgement and human violence. The pope used Isaiah 15, which states that God "does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war".
Yet, these illiterate “Christians” are accusing the Pope of not understanding biblical scripture. The Pope argues that Jesus is the "King of Peace" who cannot be used to justify war. If a leader's actions involve "atrocious violence," the biblical precedent suggests their
religious rituals or claims of divine backing are rejected by God. The whole point of Isaiah is that he prophecies a time when "nations will not train for war anymore", which is what God wants. If a leader claims to be a "Christian," their ultimate goal, according to the Gospels
and prophets, should be the building of "bridges, not walls" and the pursuit of "dialogue, peace, and diplomacy" over "arrogance and revenge".
The entire idea of the prophets and the gospels was the criticise a violent past of wars. The New Testament focuses on "loving your
enemies" and the prophets focus on a world where "war is no more."
The thing here is that MAGA think this is a holy war. The whole point of the Popes speech was to state that if "God's war" involves the killing of civilians, such as the missile strike on an Iranian elementary
school that killed over 165 people, Isaiah 1:15 suggests that the prayers of those responsible are an "abomination" to God, not a sign of His favour.
Reports from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation indicate that some U.S. military commanders have told troops that the
war is part of "God's divine plan" to cause Armageddon and trigger the return of Jesus. The New Testament teaches that "no one knows the day or the hour" of the end times (Matthew 24:36). Using war to force a prophecy to come true is seen by many theologians as an act of human
pride, not divine obedience.
For those who say "God wanted this" which version of Jesus they are following:
The "Weaponised Jesus": The version used by some to justify "overwhelming violence of action" against enemies who "deserve no mercy".
The "Prince of Peace": The Jesus of
the Gospels who said, "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9) and rebuked His disciple for using a sword during His arrest.
But let’s be clear here.
In Isaiah 2:4, God's role is to end war.
Not to start it. If a war creates more suffering and "lasting wounds," it moves
humanity away from Isaiah’s vision of peace, not toward it.
And what Christians fail to even understand is that Isaiah is referred to as the Fifth Gospel because it contains so many prophecies that Christians believe point toward Jesus and his message of PEACE!
The whole point is of Isaiah was to beat swords into plowshares, to end conflict and foster life-sustaining labor.
Often, what is called a "religious war" is actually a political war for resources or power. Leaders use religious language (like "God is with us") because it’s a
powerful tool to motivate soldiers and the public.
But it’s not a holy war. It’s just words to take resources and justify it. It is actually the epitome of evil. The whole point of the prophets was to speak out against corrupt kings and religious leaders using God to commit
atrocities. The Prophets argued that humans go to war because of greed, pride, and a lack of trust in God. They suggested that when a leader says "God wants this war," they are often "taking the Lord's name in vain" to cover up human ambition.
For real Christians, the strongest
argument against "God’s war" is Jesus himself. In the Garden of Gethsemane, when his followers tried to fight for him, Jesus said, "Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword" (Matthew 26:52).
This is why the Pope and many theologians argue
that after Jesus, there is no such thing as a "Holy War"—only human tragedies.
One of the reasons corrupt leaders have been able to use God for war, is because the majority of “Christians” don’t even read the Bible. They certainly don’t understand the transition of the “God of War” to the “God of Peace.”
You have to understand the Book of Joshua and the Book of Isaiah and how they represent two different stages in how God's relationship with the world is described. In the Book of Joshua, war is presented as a temporary, localized tool of divine judgment.
But God ended the use of war and military strategy through a "non-traditional approach" (marching and trumpets) to show that it was God’s work, not human might.
By the time you get to Isaiah, the focus shifts to the ultimate goal of history:
Universal peace.
