EXPOSED — DOJ indicted Fauci’s senior adviser David Morens for conspiracy and destroying COVID-era records.
But who were his alleged co-conspirators?
A tight network using secret Gmail accounts to dodge FOIA, revive a Wuhan-linked grant, and control the COVID origins story.
🧵
/2 After Congress exposed Morens’ emails, AFL launched a multi-front attack — demanding the Office of Special Counsel, the HHS Inspector General, and the Archivist of the United States investigate, recover unlawfully removed records, and coordinate with DOJ for potential prosecution.
We then sued Biden’s HHS for hiding records.
/3 While the American people were demanding answers about COVID origins, Dr. Morens deliberately moved official government business to his private email to evade FOIA.
This was no lapse in judgment.
It was a coordinated scheme at the highest levels to conceal the truth from the American people.
/4 When NIH terminated EcoHealth Alliance’s Wuhan-linked grant, Morens assured Peter Daszak he would “do everything needed to protect” him.
EcoHealth was later debarred for facilitating dangerous gain-of-function research in China.
/5 In the same exchange, Morens told Daszak that Fauci was “aware” and engaged in “damage control.”
Daszak replied that they would communicate by Gmail from then on.
This was not routine correspondence.
It was coordinated concealment.
/6 Around the same time, Morens receives a “gift” of wine from Daszak.
His response: “Now I am actually going to have to do something to deserve it.”
What did he do?
/7 Morens then outlined plans to personally author a scientific commentary defending Daszak’s research — while orchestrating a companion editorial to pressure NIH into reversing the grant termination and shielding the work from “political interference.”
/8 In an email to Daszak and Dr. Gerald Keusch, a former high-level NIH official, Morens explained how to make records vanish:
Morens revealed his FOIA survival strategy: move the emails to Gmail, then delete the originals before investigators could find them.
“I learned from our FOIA lady here how to make emails disappear after I am FOIA’d but before the search starts, so I think we are all safe.”
He also admitted to deleting “most of those earlier emails after sending them to gmail.”
/9 In another email to Daszak and Keusch, Morens boasted:
“We are all smart enough to know to never have smoking guns, and if we found them we’d delete them.”
A senior federal official openly admitted to destroying federal records to evade FOIA and public accountability.
/10 Ahead of a Zoom call with “Tony” (Fauci), Daszak told Morens to share materials “in a way that avoids FOIA, and if not possible just show him stuff on screen share on Zoom.”
Daszak was feeding Morens political talking points against gain-of-function critics and biosafety oversight, coaching him on how to brief Fauci off the books.
/11 As scrutiny intensified, Daszak reviewed past emails that could fuel “Deep State” stories or show the inner circle “working in a Cabal,” vowing to replace Morens’ NIH address with Gmail in all future communications.
The network was auditing its own paper trail and tightening the cover-up.
/12 Morens then issued what amounted to a communications security briefing:
“BOTH my gmail and phone calls are now safe. Text is NOT, as it can be FOIA’d, as can my govt email. So you and Peter and others should be able to email me on gmail only.”
A federal official systematically categorized which channels were “safe” from public scrutiny and instructed his network accordingly.
/13 With FOIA scrutiny closing in, Morens ordered his “collaborators” to destroy evidence:
“Most of your emails to me over recent weeks have come to my gmail which will be FOIA’d. Please delete my govt and gmail accounts, or your emails will be in the public domain as well.”
He didn’t just hide records.
He directed their destruction.
/14 While under federal investigation for unauthorized records destruction, Morens forwarded the entire internal NIH investigation memo to his alleged co-conspirators and urged them to help build his defense:
“I have told NIH that I have NOT done what NIH defines as ‘government business’ on my gmail… there is some urgency to my responding, with all the info I can dig up.”
He recast the emails as “personal,” aimed at protecting scientists from “harassment,” and used coded terms like “GOF unmentionables” to evade keyword-based FOIA searches.
/15 AFL fought to uncover all of this.
Secret Gmail accounts.
Deleted government emails.
FOIA evasion.
A Wuhan-linked grant.
And a coordinated effort to keep the American people in the dark.
/16 Transparency laws are not optional.
We will keep pushing until the full truth about COVID-era misconduct is exposed, every responsible official is held accountable, and the American people get the answers they deserve.
