AFL is calling on the FCC to press for TV ratings reform and require content warnings for gender identity and LGBTQ+ themes in children’s TV programs.
Parents deserve to know what their kids are watching.
The current system HIDES this information.
Here’s what we found.
🧵
/2 AFL’s comment asks the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to press the TV Parental Guidelines Oversight Monitoring Board (TVOMB) to add content to warnings for any children’s TV programs with gender identity, same-sex relationships, or LGBTQ+ themes.
/3 The TV ratings system is BROKEN.
Shows rated TV-Y — designed for children ages 2 to 6 — are pushing transgender ideology and gender confusion with ZERO disclosure to parents.
No warnings. No descriptors. Nothing.
Parents are left completely in the dark.
/4 DISNEY: On Disney+ “Junior Mode” — a setting supposedly for the youngest kids — children can watch an episode of Muppet Babies where Gonzo cross-dresses as “Gonzo-rella” and is celebrated for it.
But classic films like Cinderella and The Jungle Book?
BLOCKED from Junior Mode.
/5 DISNEY: Meanwhile, classic films like Peter Pan and Dumbo carry mandatory, unskippable 12-second warnings about “harmful” cultural portrayals.
So Disney KNOWS how to make content warnings.
They just refuse to warn parents about gender ideology aimed at toddlers.
/6 DISNEY: Gender Revolution on Disney+ (National Geographic) promotes transgenderism to kids, invokes the “Genderbread Person,” claims “external genitalia does not dictate your gender,” and shows an “expert” recommending PUBERTY BLOCKERS for children.
One segment features a couple that let their son “identify” as a girl at FOUR YEARS OLD.
/7 DISNEY: Pride from Above on Disney+ — accessible to profiles with TV-14 access — shows a nearly topless transgender individual riding a bike past a young child, a sign reading “I Get Horny Too,” and a lesbian biker gang called “Dykes on Bikes” with women twerking on each other in rainbow clothing.
NO specific content warning.
/8 NETFLIX: On “Netflix Kids” — a profile designed to play “only shows carefully selected for kids” — the show Ridley Jones features a character who announces “I’m non-binary,” sings a power ballad about rejecting princess dresses, and has an entire episode about coming out with new pronouns.
Your kids can watch this RIGHT NOW with no warning.
/9 NETFLIX: More from the kids’ catalog:
➡️ City of Ghosts — a child character announces “I use ‘they’ and ‘them’ for my pronouns”
➡️ Not Quite Narwhal — metaphorically walks kids through gender transition in episode one
➡️ Transformers: Earthspark — a character declares “Nightshade’s pronouns are they/them”
All on Netflix Kids. No warnings.
/10 NETFLIX: Pinky Malinky features a character with THREE fathers.
This is intentional indoctrination marketed to children.
/11 AFL is asking the FCC to press the TVOMB to:
➡️ Add specific content descriptors, like “GI” for gender identity and “SO” for sexual orientation
➡️ Apply warnings consistently across broadcast, cable, AND streaming
➡️ Let parents BLOCK this content the same way they block violence or language
➡️ Reform the ratings oversight board to include parents and faith leaders, not just industry insiders
/12 This isn't about banning content.
It's about TRANSPARENCY.
Parents — not Hollywood executives — have the right to decide what their children watch.
