Since you asked...we need to talk about Russian truck logistics in the age of destroyed at will by Ukrainian drones Russian refineries.

Russian industrial infrastructure reflects the Soviet WW2 "one big vertically integrated factory" experience.

Soviet industrial legacy🧵
1/

The Soviets built their industrial plants to minimize transportation impact on its railway system, and later, it's trucking.

This 2013 time stamped Jon Parshall presentation on WW2 US vs German Vs Soviet tank industries underlines this Soviet reality

2/

In the 1950's and 1960's the CIA and Strategic Air Command (SAC) Single Integrated Operational Plan (SIOP) targeting planners discovered this quirk of the Soviet centralized economy.

3/

We are seeing this Soviet "single vertically integrated plant to minimize transportation costs" industrial supply chain consequences in the Russian fuel shortages appearing down stream from Ukraine's anti-refinery campaign.

4/

When Ukraine hits a major Russian refinery.

It inflicts a disproportionate disruption in the Russian fuel distribution supply chain compared to that of the West because competition in the West breeds "excess capability" compared to central planning.

5/

There are more fuel trucks, pipelines and railway fuel gondola cars in the West to move fuel because economic competition for the last dollar (or whatever) requires it.

Russia's centralized planning legacy, it's oligarch economic corruption, and
6/

...imported just-in-time (J.I.T.) from the West MBA culture means there is far less "discretionary" or "excess" transportation to flex between oil refinery markets.

This means there are no tanker trucks or rail cars available for losses or disasters.

6/

The need to supply the Russian Army in occupied Ukraine since 2022 with fuel has already strained Russia's "J.I.T." scaled fuel tanker truck fleet.

The arrival of Ukraine's 150 km range AI truck killing drones...

7/

...is breaking fuel distribution to both the Russian Army & Russian economy.

Disguising fuel tanker trucks as other kinds of civilian truck traffic is just one sign of Russian desperation.

8/

Russia not only stopped exporting refined fuels from damaged refineries.

Russia is now _Importing_ fuel to try and get around its drone disrupted truck and train fuel distribution system.

10/

The TLDR of the Russian fuel shortage:

Most Russian Army radios are in vehicles w/o aux-power units to recharge batteries & drone units use small generators to recharge their batteries.⬇️

No fuel means no drones and no radios to call artillery.😈
