1. Bulbous dome of Ibrahim Roza, Bijapur

Dome is globular with lotus base, a direct imitation of globular dome with lotus base of Stupa architecture. Finial of dome is Kalasha(sacred pot) surmounted by almost circular moon symbol.#ReclaimTemples #ReclaimArchitecture

@DalrympleWill @WhiteMughalsFan @vajrayudha11 @IndianhistoryRT @subhashkak1 @ReclaimTemples 3.Hti and Kalasha both were interchangeable for example Kalasha and Amalaka finial of Indian curvilinear Shikhara was replaced by Hti/conical spire in Burmese buddhist temples of Bagan. #ReclaimArchitecture

Below: bulbous dome of Gandhara period

@DalrympleWill @WhiteMughalsFan @vajrayudha11 @IndianhistoryRT @subhashkak1 @ReclaimTemples See the dome of this relic shrine...it also has same lotus band and topped by hti(conical spire)...replace it with Kalasha you will get the same dome of Ibrahim Roza.

Old Temple ,Sahagarh, Banda

Its sanctum is octagonal in plan which displays the beautiful mural paintings on its wall. The temple facing east is of sandhara type. The roof of this temple has parapet wall which is decorated with miniature cupolas. #ReclaimArchitecture

@DalrympleWill @WhiteMughalsFan @vajrayudha11 @IndianhistoryRT @subhashkak1 @ReclaimTemples 2.The temple has globular domed sikhara(similar to globular stupa of rock cut temples). The dome springs from lotus petals essentially following the design of globular domed Stupa(s) with lotus base. While Stupa is crowned by conical spire, here come is crowned by typical Kalasha

@DalrympleWill @WhiteMughalsFan @vajrayudha11 @IndianhistoryRT @subhashkak1 @ReclaimTemples 3It is notable that both conical spire and Kalasha with lotus base were interchangeable depending upon whether temple is Buddhist or Hindu. In Buddhist temple of Burma it wasn't unusual to have curvilinear Shikhara of Hindu temples surmounted by conical spire in contrast to ...
