When we find ourselves in the depths of worry, sickness, fear, or despair, the LORD does hear our cry, unless we are walking in rebellion to His Word!
The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry. The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
When Moses had been on the mountain with the LORD for some time, the people grew impatient. They wanted something they could see with their eyes to save them!
They asked Aaron to fashion a god that they could see!
Instead of waiting on the LORD, they took matters into their own hands! They looked to someone other than the LORD to lead them!
So often God’s people today are guilty of the same. They look to man to save them, instead of trusting that the LORD is in control and waiting for Him! They want a human mediator, or in this case a golden calf!
We set aside special days to remember those who have served, or are serving their Country. Today is one of those days!
We should also remember the sacrifice of the parents, spouses, children, extended family and friends of these men and women!
When our son served in Iraq and Afghanistan, as his parents, his well being was always on our hearts and minds, and not only ours, but he was on the hearts of our other children, our family, and our friends!
Thankfully our son came home safe and sound, but so many gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives, or came home with physical and emotional scars! For all of these we are thankful!
In this world you will have tribulation; you will be tested and tried! Jesus told us what we would be called upon to suffer if we choose to follow Him and walk in obedience to His Word!
Jesus also told us He has overcome the world!
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
He says that the trials we endure shouldn’t surprise us, because if we know His Word, we have been warned about what the future holds!
How do we persevere to the end and overcome the evil of this world?
Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
Only by His Spirit in us!
We often speak of Ephesians six, but do we practice what it teaches?
We want the benefits of the full armor of God, but we don’t have access to that armor unless we are in Christ, and His Spirit is in us!
Here is the rest of the oft quoted passage!
Ephesians 6:10-17
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Do you mourn over sin? Does it grieve your heart to see how wicked not only the world is, but those that say they are the people of God? What about sin in your own life? Have you become apathetic to sin?
Sin in the our Country and world today is not grieved, or deplored! It’s not even just tolerated — It is celebrated!
Instead of mourning sin, our society mourns those who mourn sin!
Do you know that the Word tells us that those who continue to rejoice in unrighteousness long enough, will be turned over by God to that unrighteousness?
