A pretense is a profession, rather than a real intention; it is making believe, or putting on a false show. Pretending!
A pretentious person would be one presenting an outward appearance that masks who they really are!
Jesus criticized the Pharisees for their pretentiousness!
Matthew 23:27-28
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
We are to be the reflection of the LORD to those we encounter each day! When others speak to us, or even when they pass us by, do they see His reflection?
When God created all that is, He declared that He (the triune God) was creating us in His image!
Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness.
Although we are made in His image, once we are born again by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior, we must be conformed to His image, by yielding to His Spirit’s work in our lives!
The world will become darker and darker as we await the return of Jesus! There is no doubt, as the Word of God tells us this.
Isaiah 60:1-3
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
What will shake you? When our hearts are fixed, we will not be moved or fearful when we see or hear something that causes concern for ourselves or for someone we love!
What does it mean to have your heart fixed?
We must have predetermined and settled on the fact that no matter what we see with our eyes, or hear with our ears, we know that the LORD is in control! His purposes will prevail!
Fixed means to be fastened securely in position!
When we are fixed on the LORD — Eyes on Him — We will not be moved!
Psalm 16:8
I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

When we allow the enemy into our lives, our churches, our cities, and our countries, we are welcoming destruction!
No one would actively pursue their own destruction, yet in the name of peace, unity, love, and tolerance, so many have done so, and are doing so! Think — “I knew you were a snake” poem!
Who doesn’t want peace! After all peacemakers are commended by Jesus Himself! But we know the only true peace will come when Jesus returns! We also know the antichrist will provide a false and short lived peace!
Being “clingy” usually has a very negative connotation, but clinging to the LORD does not! In fact we are told to cling to Him to the end!
David was in the wilderness when he penned the Words in the Psalm below. His Words speak of clinging to the LORD!
Psalm 63:7-8
Because Thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard (My soul clings to You) after Thee: Thy right hand upholdeth me.
