Happy Blood Donors Day Word! #BloodDonorDay

As we celebrate #BloodDonorDay, I would like to congratulate all Rotaractors who have given blood and supported @ChangiaDamuDSM and all #rotaracttz initiatives done in collaboration with @ChangiaDamuTz, @Muhimbili1 and other institutions nationwide.

These initiatives go back to 2005 when the only two clubs in the Tanzania at that time, @RotaractKwanza and @DarCityRct got together and collaborated with @ChangiaDamuTz and @Rotary clubs in Dar es Salaam (@RotaryDar), under the mentorship of the late Rotarian Anthony Barretto.

Awe and admiration strikes me when I remember that we received the same mentorship, 12 years later from Tony's daughter and our @rdistrict9211 @Rotary Youth Director, Rotarian Catherinerose Barretto (@CRBarretto) for the @ChangiaDamuDSM #BloodDonation project.

It is now 13 years since Rotaract Tanzania (@rottanzania) started the annual #BloodDonation project with @ChangiaDamuTz and we continue to support the project.

This year has been a remarkable one. We donated blood at The Slipway in Dar es Salaam. For the first time in our recent history, almost of the blood collected came from Rotarians and Rotaractors came together to #GiveBloodShareLife.

It was a different approach, championed by this year's Blood Donation project chair @jkihanda, his club @RotaractMuhas under the guidance of #rotaracttz Projects Chair, DRRE @MwombekiA.

It showed that we as @rottanzania practise what we preach.

The year is special too because clubs of @rottanzania had blood donation camps at Peramiho in #Songea and recently at Bugando in #Mwanza, where the event was special for observing and highlighting the blood donation day together with our proud partners, @ChangiaDamuTz.

It is even special that our partners @ChangiaDamuTz awarded the Prov. Rotaract Club of CUHAS special recognition. The certificate was presented by the Regional Commissioner for Mwanza region, Hon. John Mongella - it is a great honour for Rotaract Tanzania #rotaracttz.

There is no words I can use to express my gratitudes to all Rotaractors in #Tanzania for their sincere acts of kindness and hardwork that they put in saving lives our nation through our #bloodDonation initiatives with our partners @ChangiaDamuTz.

I donated blood for the first time in my life when I was truly influenced by a nurse and mid-wife who sees blood's need daily. She is a legendary #rotaractor, a Past President of @DarCityRct who is truly the phrase, "#ServiceAboveSelf" in flesh & bones - Memory Nkhambule.

Let us continue advocating for this and influence our family, friends and everyone to support this important cause to society because there is a need and there will always be a need to save lives through #blooddonation
