.@AMADICHIMA wrote a long thread on @fkeyamo I do not know @AMADICHIMA personally. I never met him during the pro democracy struggle but my friend and Comrade @AbdulMahmud01 contacted me recently about Amadi (They have met).
I will voice my own opinion on Amadi's
Thread 👇
BACKGROUND: In 2003 the SSS stormed my BA flight leaving MMA Airport for the UK. Came to my seat and removed me on the directive of Lateef Kayode Are a retired Nigerian Army Colonel who was Director General of the Nigerian secret police. I was taken to Abuja by road that night.
On getting to Abuja I was kept in one of the SSS HQ I was blindfolded and then driven to one of the many SSS detention centre in the middle of no where. Kept incommunicado. 15 days into my detention I met with Kayode Are who wanted some sort of 'Agreement' as instructed by OBJ
I turned down the request presented by SSS Director Are which include denouncing the Oodua Republic Front, the OPC and then acting as a state witness against Dr Frederick Fasehun Gani Adams and OPC Executives including Dr Beko Ranseome Kuti. I was returned to the SSS jail.
I chose to be in detention despite tactics used bySSS than compromise. I had no way of knowing what was going on in outside world. Day 36 into my detention I was SUDDENLY woken up from my cell and told we were going to court. That will be my first contact with the outside world.
On getting to court it dawned on me that @fkeyamo had spent the last 30 days of my kidnap from an international flight by the Nigerian state going to one court or the other trying to enforce my fundamental human rights. He finally got an injunction that I must be produced.
.@fkeyamo went to court pro bono, he had been in court for other Nigerians, one being at some point for @YeleSowore the founder of @SaharaReporters and I also know for Asari Dokubo.
Recently when know one would touch the case of Charles Okah. Henry did without conditions.
That @AMADICHIMA will pass @fkeyamo as some sort of dull, unworthy charge and bail lawyer just because he chose pit tent with @OfficialPDPNig and @fkeyamo chose @MBuhari is sad. That he passes his own opinion as facts even makes the joke dry. Opinions are not fact. Facts speaks.
I have no personal opinion on @AMADICHIMA as we have not had reasons to meet, our met during the students movement or pro democracy struggle. The Nigerian student body was large, you are very unlikely to meet everyone. but @AbdulMahmud01 confirm they worked together.
My only contact with @AMADICHIMA was during #osunrerun he posted commentaries about being an independent observer and I pointed out that being an open supporter of @OfficialPDPNig he can not make such claims. I have been very open about my support for @MBuhari from 2007-date
I believe activists, journalists, op-ed writers, professionals should be open and transparent about their bias if they have a bias, that way the public will be left to judge whatever they say. That is a more transparent form of advocacy than pretending to be independent.
I then believed @AMADICHIMA was not open about his support for @OfficialPDPNig my comrade @AbdulMahmud01 pointed out that he (Chima) also supported @MBuhari in 2015 and I said it was not relevant, he should be clear and be open about his current status and not hide under NGO.
.@AMADICHIMA tweet about @fkeyamo , SAN, a few days ago, In my opinion came across as was a hatchet job. I have known Keyamo for decades in the struggle. I drew @fkeyamo's attention to it, he laughed it off & said I shouldn’t bother myself & that it was just comedy.
.@fkeyamo said as a lawyer he doesn’t respond to allegations without an iota of supporting evidence, which the vituperations of @AMADICHIMA was all about. I agreed. But I insisted this was not a law court. Now I will leave you to your own conclusions here 👇 FACTS ARE FACTS
Firstly, @fkeyamo , did not lose any of cases @AMADICHIMA accused him to have compromised. Chima said he lost Kenny Martins case. In fact, Keyamo won the case at the Appeal & Supreme Courts. He didn’t conduct it at the High Court. Evidence attached👇. So, where is d compromise?
👇 FACTS ARE FACTS
Now with the attached facts, will @AMADICHIMA advise himself again on @fkeyamo's handling of the Kenny Martins case? Honourable people will. I wait.
Similarly, @fkeyamo won Ladoja case at Appeal Court. Evidence attached👇. Both d Martins & Ladoja cases were won on preliminary points & remitted back 4 trials as d courts agreed with Keyamo they had cases to answer. Copies of the judgments show the miserable lies of @AMADICHIMA
In Ladoja’s case, the Appeal Court praised both @fkeyamo & Olanipekun for the excellent Briefs they submitted to the court for the adjudication of the case. When such top jurists praise lawyers, it is always an indication of excellence. Lawyers can read the full judgment of 2014
If there’s any evidence of underhand dealings, would Festus have had d courage to conduct & win these cases? D fact that @AMADICHIMA has lied that @fkeyamo lost cases he never lost shows how low Chima can go just cus he backs @OfficialPDPNig & @fkeyamo backs @MBuhari and APC.
Now let us look at @AMADICHIMA's assertion regarding Gani Fawehinmi.
BACKGROUND:
Gani is an irreplaceable comrade and hero. I am a living testimony of Gani's magnanimity.
When IBB regime charged myself and about 13 of my comrades in UNIJO before a Military tribunal Gani stood.
If Gani Fawehinmi had not stood for us, sending lawyers across the country myself and my Comrades could have been convicted to life in jail just for demanding a return to civilian rule and speaking for the oppressed in our society. We owe our victory in court to Gani.
Aside from representing us pro-bono in the military tribunal myself, then NANS President @AbdulMahmud01 Kemi Afolayan, Ben Okonofua. late Dominic Ogampa and others would never had graduated from UNIJOS, we got expelled 2 times Gani fought our reinstatement.
Even when Jos Prison was the home of myself and Ben Okonofua Gani fought to the point that I was allowed to write the draft of my final year project from Jos prison with the help of then ASSU head in UNIJOS Iyorchia Ayu convincing lmy supervisor to visit me in prison for reviews.
.@AbdulMahmud01 Emma Edigheji can testify that Gani Fawehinmi was worshiped by Comrades in UNIJOS. We had the Gani solidarity movement. I was privilege to champion that with my comrades, we raised funds when the State wanted to clampdown on Gani. But Gani was not infalible
To make @fkeyamo disagreement with Gani Fawehinmi a big deal chose .@AMADICHIMA does not understand the tradition he claims to have come from. In the left we disagree a lot, actually back then we hardly vote, superior arguments are allowed to reign supreme. It is not a big deal.
I am weary of comrades who used the term 'reactionary' 'state agents' etc. I remember a gentleman who nurtured us in UNIJOS. I will call him by his first name Chima. We were made to believe he was an 'agent'
It took years after UNIJOS that the truth came out, he was never one.
It was the tradition in the students movement that when people can't defeat you, they label you 'state agent' 'reactionary' etc. Those who labelled others where the first to jump into the political arena when we left school and break the NANS 10 point demand.
.@fkeyamo distinguished himself when he did his NYSC with Gani & was later retained as a full staff. For one, he was adjudged the Best Lawyer (NYSC) in the Chambers in March, 1994. See attached Certificate. He was also the first Northern Co-ordinator of Gani’s National Conscience
.@AMADICHIMA questioned @fkeyamo ’s elevation as an SAN! A man the whole nation saw as he was shortlisted & denied severally? Keyamo’s CV shows he graduated with a 2.1. Here is a publication where he was the Best Advocate at his Final Year in a National Moot Trial Competition👇
After @fkeyamo was conferred with his SANship, here is a publication where the creme de la creme of the profession poured encomiums on him. Olanipekun, Falana, Awomolo, JB Daudu, Yusuf Alli, Oyetibo, Chris Uche, etc - all SANs. Also the NJI, Justice Galadima, JSC. See below👇.
As @fkeyamo activities as a student, Please check referred d Facebook page of no other person than d Student Union President of AAU at the time @AMADICHIM referred to. Please, read the post of Francis E Waive on 28/10/2018 at about 11.20pm and see how it exposes Chima's lies.
Hear him ‘I presided at the Congress where a decision was taken... to protest the arrest of Mayegun and others by the military junta. (Festus) never argued against the protest but was strongly in support of it. Infact he was our link with (Gani) especially when we had issues’
.@AMADICHIMA painted Keyamo as a very rich lawyer. That means @fkeyamo must be doing what he believes in & not for pecuniary gains. is it not sad that Chima would not expect a hard-working lawyer to be super-comfortable yet Chima defends civil-servants-turned-billionaires?
It was well reported at the time that some party members, including @fkeyamo , took Gani to court over disagreements on the running of the NCP. It was nothing personal and the world saw that the issue was resolved much later as Gani stood by Keyamo in all his battles till death.
Comrades disagree on methods, I disagreed with Chief Gani Fawhinmi on many occasions on methods, it does not make him less my hero, I had reasons to disagree with Dt Frederick Fasehun in OPC and left, does not make him less a leaders. The DOES NOT have supreme leaders.
If .@AMADICHIMA really knows Chief Gani Fawhinmi, he's reputed disagreeing with everyone, he's our special one, no one took it personal. When Gani supported General Buhari the left was not happy but he stood his ground. When Gani defied NBA & rejected to boycott military courts
.@AMADICHIMA makes disagreement within the left a sacrilege, no it isn't
If there is anyone I will take a bullet for that person is @YeleSowore today he's running as candidate for @NGRPresident but I back @MBuhari we disagree but keep our relationships, we both speak our minds.
.@atiku@MBuhari@GEJonathan and other politicians disagree but they have an area of convergence. @AMADICHIMA can disagree with @fkeyamo but to present his opinions as facts without supporting documents limits his presentations as just opinions.
🇳🇬 Just before the lights are turned off!
The primary responsibility of the government is to protect its citizens, failing to do that, every other achievement can be wiped out by just 2 days of war. Clearly, from the North to the South the State has lost it's monopoly of violence
and a clear strategy on how to retain control on behalf of the citizens.
None State actors can not bring stability. They can dilliver blood, the temporary feeling of victory in revenge and counter revenge until the last person standing falls.
It is ONLY the State that should restore its authority by gaining the confidence of the citizens in a war situation. Be consistent in reactions to all the conflicts without any hesitations and resort less on knee jack responses.
I have seen a number of people asking why the UK isn't holding Nnamdi Kanu for masterminding large scale assassinations and terrorism in Nigeria.
The answer is, the Nigerian government isn't serious about using well established UK processes in seeking extradition or prosecution.
There are clearly documented records of Nnamdi Kanu's radio broadcasting from the UK; violating laws requesting his militias in Nigeria to target, kill opponents. It is not for @UKinNigeria to do the job of the Nigerian government. Too many misfits in our national institutions.
I will limit the conversation here, when your foreign policy and diaspora engagement is centred over "eye service" and you have no clear policy or strategy to counter propaganda. You will always be playing defence. Do I even want to mention the info Minister still in 1970 mode?
In 2008 I chose my 2nd Masters research topic "International Small Arms Regime And The State: The focus was on Africa and Nigeria."
Professor Peter Gowan pulled me to his office and said "Do you really want to do it?" I told him I suspect Nigeria will be the next Ground Zero.
Dr Marko Bojcun saw my topic by "accident". If I had not met Dr Bojcun, my work would have just been an "academic exercise". Marko it was who linked me with contacts. I was able to visit 4 core small arms supply routes in Europe. Uncover Nigerian players in the market.
A contact in Bosnia linked me up with a Nigerian player. He was one of the most important player in the illegal small arms trade. He claimed then he doesn't supply Nigerian clients out of principle.
That turned out to be a lie. I only found out in Abuja on the 1st October 2020.
Interesting parapo meeting today, anger, lots of 'THEY' vs 'US'. The zoom meeting was well attended. People threatening fire, thunder, tagging those of us calling for calm "Traitors".
Then I asked, how many of your children were involved in the Ibadan killings today? SILENCE!
Then one of my "Comrade" himself and his wife are always jumping from @channelstv to @ARISEtv. I asked him, aside your television rounds, have you ever handled an AK47? Simple question, he called me a bastard.
I asked will your Ibadan radio station host 100 Eso's? SILENCE!
Then another one, he was Afenifere lackeys, during the Ajegunle crisis, the same one who chopped money meant for young Yoruba who were defending their streets, mane died needlessly. I asked when last he visited Eso zones across Yoruba land. SILENCE! He kept ranting Fulani bla bla
Governor Ortoms latest 11 minutes anti-Fulani rant was Ortom's at his very best, if there is one area he hasn't failed as Governor, it is blaming the Fulani for everything wrong whit his government, but let us separate the message from the messenger. He raised some VALID POINTS.
You may disagree with Ortorm and heaven knows he's an opportunist whose only achievement as Benue Governor is his rabid anti-Fulani rants and generally criminalizing the Fulanis without even any attempt to separate the criminal elements from peace-loving Fulanis.
is a perfect opportunity for Ortom and some of his other Governor colleagues to cover their own incompetence, but you cannot argue against Ortoms valid point that the President, Muhammad Buhari has acted in ways that have left even some of his staunch supporters baffled.
