This came after a 2025 plea agreement where he and a colleague pleaded no contest to one felony, while other charges were dismissed.

Some history.

In the late 1700s and the early 1800s, French and British ships used to be taken by Barbary pirates off the coast of North Africa. People on those ships were taken hostage and held for ransom, often abused, and sometimes killed while in captivity,

with beatings and rapes of the women quite common while being held by Muslim authorities.

The European governments tended to pay ransom, and as they paid, the capturing of ships increased and the hostage problems increased.

The Omer was originally a measure. It was the ration of manna (מן) allocated per person provided each day except Shabbat for survival.

Originally, for 1300 years, the “counting of the Omer” was considered to be a happy time. Spring. Great weather before the heat of summer.

The panel found that the original sentencing judge Matthew Barrett improperly considered Peters' public statements and beliefs about the 2020 election which the appeals court viewed as protected First Amendment speech when...
