Ulverley Green Road, Solihull. Two minutes from the Jaguar Land Rover factory #LedByDonkeys (1/6)
This is our last guerrilla billboard operation. We’re going legit now, working with agencies to buy sites & expose our leaders. But they wouldn’t put this one up so we did it ourselves. None of your crowdfunder £ was used to do Johnson (2/6) (Source FT) ft.com/content/8075e6…
A kilometre up the road from this billboard, one of the UK’s largest car factories is slashing jobs this month in part because of Brexit. When @BorisJohnson says “fuck business” he really means “fuck you and your job” (3/6) express.co.uk/news/uk/105995…
We just want to say, sincere apologies to people (and there will be some) who are offended we put a swear word on a billboard. We agonised over whether to asterisk it or not, but in the end we thought ‘Johnson said it, he needs to own it” (4/6)
For anyone new to this, we’re taking damning historic quotes from our Brexit overlords, styling them as tweets and turning them into massive billboards. It started off as a few friends with a ladder from B&Q but then a crowdfunder took off and now we’re going national (5/6)
We’ve raised £60k of our £50k target 🥳. We’re also chasing down leading Brexiteers, trying to get more followers than them (hi @DominicRaab 😴). And finally, we’re trying to have a laugh beneath the erupting volcano of chaos, hypocrisy and incompetence that is Brexit. LBDx (6/6)

On Wednesday morning we climbed the scaffolding outside Labour's London HQ and installed the kind of billboard we wish the party would run. Here’s why 🧵
Proportional representation is not the answer to every ill this country is facing. No electoral system is perfect. But PR is fairer and would better equip Britain to deal the massive challenges we face.
As things stand our politics is largely focused on placating a few tens of thousands of people in marginal seats.
🚨 We need 3,000 new monthly supporters to help us challenge the powerful and hold the government to account. We’d love you to be one of them 👉 donate.ledbydonkeys.org (a bit more on why below if you need it)
We choose to be 100% funded by small donations. We refuse major donors because we think accepting that kind of money builds dependence that can turn into access and influence (looking at you, 55 Tufton St)
It means we can go after anyone with questions to answer about their use of public money (like Michelle Mone and her luxury yacht the L̶a̶d̶y̶ ̶M̶ Pandemic Profiteer)
We need 3,000 new monthly supporters to help us ramp up our campaign and hold Johnson’s cynical, morally bankrupt government to account. We’d love you to be one of them. Here’s the plan 🧵
Led By Donkeys has come a long way from our days deploying a bucket of wallpaper paste and a ladder. But creativity and humour are still at the heart of all we do to challenge those in power.
If we hit the target we’ll fund a new investigations capacity, hiring determined journalists to shine a light into the dark corners of Johnson’s operation. Like the time we reported how the man behind a controversial energy project had donated to 1 in 10 Tory MPs.
“Dad sacrificed his life to follow the rules... Conservative MPs should be ashamed to count the PM as a colleague, let alone support him.” Hannah Brady and other bereaved families have been outside Downing St and Tory HQ today, explaining why the party scandal matters (thread)
🚨 We’re looking for 3,000 new monthly supporters to turn Led By Donkeys into a permanent campaign that challenges the powerful and holds the government to account. We’d love you to be one of them 👉 donate.ledbydonkeys.org
(Bit of a thread on why)
Our national politics is in a grim place. When politicians openly lie with impunity and beat the nationalist drum to distract from their failures, it damages our democracy.
It can sometimes feel like untreated sewage is being pumped directly into the lifeblood of public debate.
🚨BREAKING Just got word that @Sainsburys has pulled its advertising from GB News and Nigel Farage’s show. Amazing job everyone. 👏
After a couple of billboards, an advan at their HQ, more than 2.5 million views on films, and escalating pressure, Sainsbury’s did the right thing. (This tweet 👇is careful corporate speak for “we’ve stopped now”).
Huge thanks to everyone who contacted @sainsburys, to the volunteers at @StopFundingHate who’ve been monitoring the channel and to the staff at the supermarket as well for pushing for this change
