@WendyWokoma @AskAwayHealth @WHO Thank you for those ideas!
Simple, but practical and EVERYONE can adopt.

So we are done for tonight!
Of course the conversation doesn’t end here. We know that gender inequality affects a woman’s economic state and impacts her health.

@WendyWokoma @AskAwayHealth @WHO If women are poorly represented at decision making, will our real needs be met?
It’s important to note that gender equality does NOT disrespect any man - rather it allows for harnessing of the potential in women to be used to allow development for the benefit of all.

Good morning.
Just wanted to share some thoughts on suicide in Nigeria - what CAN we do to prevent the high frequency of episodes?

With any solution unless it addresses the cause then it’s unlikely to have impact.1

THREAD
1. Education and awareness - we must educate people about suicide - we must sincerely tackle wrong norms or beliefs and teach the truth about suicide.

We must destigmatise it and decriminalise it so people can seek help when needed./2

2. Identification and treatment.
This is the biggest area -and toughest.

Particularly in a society where people are conservative, limited by funds and cannot readily access adequate healthcare where they need it.
It’s tough where there are inadequate health systems /3
