2019 is not 2004.

What makes Prime Minister Modi different from Prime Minister Vajpayee? Let me answer in this brief thread.
Atal Ji did not expand the BJP beyond the Hindi heartland. He focused exclusively on the Hindi heartland even after winning the 1999 Elections. Compare it with Modi Ji, who after winning the 2014 Elections has made BJP a party which has a pan-India presence.
Atal Ji didn't have a SENAPATI as Amit Shah Ji. Advani Ji was by his side but there was no full time mastermind in the party in 2004. Today Amit Shah is the brains behind Prime Minister Modi and his election campaign. Amit Shah has made BJP a war machine.
Amit Shah has also recruited officers like Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sunil Deodhar in his army. These men have won the entire North East for the BJP and gifted the region to Amit Shah. Vajpayee Ji didn't do anything like this.
Today the BJP has realised the power of media, information technology and social media. BJP's media management is such that they always aim to capture the maximum TV space and time. This happens on a daily basis. They set daily targets of TV space and air time domination.
In 2004, Vajpayee Ji was visible on TV, exclusively as the Prime Minister of India. Not as a BJP worker.

Prime Minister Modi on the other hand is seen more with the BJP on TV than with Govt officials. This has implanted the saffron party on the minds of millions of Indians.
Vajpayee Ji's response to the terrorist attack on the Parliament was also forgettable. No military action was ordered by him against the terrorists, whereas Modi Ji is known for his "seek and destroy" strategy against terrorists be it in India or on the other side of the border.
Modi Ji has exploited the fault lines in the rival camp. He went helter-skelter behind the Congress Party on issues such as corruption and dynasty rule but Vajpayee Ji believed in evergreen statesmanship even with political rivals. He never questioned the dynasty rule of Gandhis.
Vajpayee Ji ran an alliance govt for 5 years and despite knowing the fact that BJP was not in majority, he entered the 2004 battlefield with a weak BJP. Compare it to Modi Ji. Despite running a majority govt, he stitched alliances leading up to 2019 and expanded BJP throughout.
Atal Ji was friends with everyone, even the DURBARIS of the Gandhi family. He had no enemies and even if he had, he was still widely respected by his enemies too but Modi Ji is totally different from him. Modi Ji walks on a path that no one has explored before.
Modi Ji knows who the enemies within the country are and he handles them in his own style. The lutyens media hates Modi and Modi loves it. Modi Ji deals with the Congress Party's EKOSYSTIM with an iron fist and is unforgiving of their anti Hindu and anti national propaganda.
Vajpayee adjusted himself according to the media but Modi has forced the media to change itself according to Modi. People loved Vajpayee but no one feared him but DURBARIS and the opposition fears Modi while his supporters love him. This is the biggest difference between them.
Vajpayee didn't exploit two very basic things to his benefit, which Modi brilliantly did. He never capitalised people's emotions and neither did he use the Hindutva card as much. In any democracy, it's emotions that get votes. Development doesn't get votes. Politics 101 folks.
In India, people don't cast their vote, they vote their caste.

Prime Minister Modi has trumped casteism by exploiting the nationalism card. Every one of us are Indians first and Hindus, Muslims, upper caste, lower caste later and India unites us. That's Modi Ji's strategy.
There's something called as 'Market Psychology' and it moves the electorate as good as it moves the markets. Fear and Greed determine market movement and it determines electorate movement as well. Vajpayee tapped into none of the two for his political advantage.
Modi Ji has been successful in driving fear into his enemies' hearts and he has also done substantial fear mongering about the opposition. Capitalising on emotions, drives human behavior and he masters this art unlike most other politicians in India and worldwide.
The voters are human beings and humans never get fully satisfied. There's always an urge in the human mind, to enjoy bigger and better things. This is where Vajpayee erred the most. He proclaimed that India was shining after 5 years of his rule when in reality it wasn't.
There was still a lot of work to be done by him although he did a hell lot of work in the short span of 5 years but the India Shining thing drowned his govt. Modi on the other hand has never said that India is now shining or everything is good after 5 years of his rule.
Modi Ji always says that a lot has been done and a lot more still needs to be done. He has declared his vision for the future. He doesn't wish to stop till India becomes a superpower. This leaves the voters anticipating for more and looking forward to his next term, excited.
Modi is unlikely to face what Vajpayee faced in 2004. Remember Vajpayee had less than 150 seats in 2004 before the elections but Modi has 270. Just do stupid maths and apply all permutations and combinations. Modi is strong on all fronts. 2019 is nothing like 2004.
