A serial motor vehicle registration fraudster involved in a multi-million shillings logbooks forgery enterprise, is out on a Sh100,000 cash bail, issued yesterday by a Makadara Court. George Gitu, one of the brains behind a new

crime wave involving brokers and insiders at the NTSA, who obtain credit from micro-finance institutions using forged logbooks is a free man. This is after an application by our sleuths seeking further custodial orders to detain the suspect and complete investigations

were turned down. The con who lives a soft life on other people’s sweat obtained over Sh4.4 million through forged logbooks of four vehicles belonging to unsuspecting vehicle owners, was arraigned at the Makadara Law courts yesterday.

Vandals of Electricity Infrastructure Arrested

The masterminds behind vandalism of part of Kenya Power & Lighting (KPLC) electricity infrastructure have finally been arrested by detectives.
Thomas Anasi, 38, who is a former line technician at the country’s electricity

distribution company and Joseph Kagwi, 36, a multi-million unscrupulous businessman based in Thika, are currently in our custody after being linked to the high level crime. The two were arrested following the disappearance of electricity cables and other materials meant for

a rural electrification project in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta county. Before their disappearance, the materials worth millions of shillings were at a site in Kushe area, where the government was in the process of connecting locals to the national grid.

The Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti, who is also INTERPOL’s Africa representative, is currently attending the inaugural executive committee session for delegates from Africa, at the Interpol Headquarters in Leone, France.

The meeting chaired by INTERPOL’s Secretary General Jürgen Stock, follows the election of the Executive Committee in November last year, where Kenya was elected to represent the continent in the global body. Mr Kinoti’s election to the key decision making body was an

Rogue DCI Officers Arrested

Four rogue police officers attached to DCI Langata, have been arrested by Serious Crimes detectives on charges of Robbery with Violence.
This is after they abducted a man at NextGen Mall on February 6, 2022, at around noon and forcefully demanded

money from him. The man who had requested for a taxi by the roadside along Mombasa Road, was accosted by the officers before being forcefully bundled in a waiting Subaru, that had five occupants. Whilst in the vehicle, the in-charge Corporal Tom Otieno, forcefully transferred

Sh40,000 from the victim’s Mpesa account to his Mpesa account. They then proceeded to the victim’s apartment where they took a further USD2,400, from him, before dumping him at Choma Zone located at Total petrol station along Mombasa Road, after a 2-hour ordeal.

Guard suspected to have stabbed to death a 26-yr-old man over a Sh20 parking fee in Nairobi's Kahawa West area is being sought by detectives.

In the incident reported at 2am last night, the suspect only identified as Saluni is said to have demanded the Sh20 fee from the victim,

for parking his motorcycle next to a construction site that he watches.

Seeing that the motorcycle owner was adamant and ready to rev up his wheels, Saluni brandished a suspected Somali sword from his Maasai shuka, driving it into the victim's belly before scampering off.

Good Samaritans who heard the victim groan in excruciating pain rushed him to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital, only to be pronounced dead on arrival. His body lays at the same hospitals funeral home, awaiting autopsy.

Men Who Abducted Catholic Nun Charged in Court

Two men who abducted a Catholic nun and violently obtained money from her, were yesterday arraigned before a Meru court. Nixon Kinyua and Patrick Ngure were arrested after they took the nun hostage on February 5,

for over four hours, as they demanded for money from her. The two who had threatened to rape the nun if she failed to heed to their demands, drained money from her Mpesa Account before they coerced her to call her colleagues and ask for more money.

The nun, a missionary from Nazarene Sisters, was traveling towards Meru from Kiamuri on the fateful day, when a grey Toyota Premio pulled over at the bus stop. The driver of the car posing as a good samaritan then offered to drop the Lord’s servant at her destination,
