it’s hard to put my thoughts & feelings into words... just as it was 4.5 years ago. i lost one of my best friends in Deah, & no sentencing or worldly attempt at justice can rectify what was a fundamentally unjust act. #OurThreeWinners
that being said, the heaviness & numbness upon my heart that i, as well as so many others who were touched by #OurThreeWinners- the pieces of shattered glass that are & will continue to make mosaics (@Mohammad_Moussa)- pales in comparison to the torment their families face.
let us continue to pray for #OurThreeWinners & keep their families in our prayers. 3amo Mohammad AbuSalha, @YousefAbuSalha, @sbarakat210 , & @AbuNamee spoke with much grace & eloquence moments after having seen what was essentially a snuff film recorded by Deah as his last act.
the sentencing today may have put a momentary punctuation on what has been 4.5 years of heartache, but this pain will continue until the Day of Reckoning, when the ultimate justice will be served.
let us continue to use this pain to come together, to strive in helping those in need both near & far, to aid in building a stronger community that prepares and molds our youth into ideal members of humanity & servants of our Lord—just as #OurThreeWinners strived to do.
nothing could ever take our pain away, but we must not let our pain turn into hatred- rather we must use it to make our world a better place so that we may be reunited with them in the hereafter.
often when i reflect on #OurThreeWinners, my heart fills with sadness & weight. my only solace comes from thinking of their funeral- the snowfall as their bodies were lowered into their earthly abodes. in that moment i felt God more viscerally than ever. God is the greatest.

a 10-year old boy came into clinic last week with symptoms of an upper respiratory infection. i brought him in the back, took his vitals; his parents accompanied him. his dad came with him. he was a tall man, about 6'5". he had a massive jaw and huge hands.
the father & i get to talking after his son's flu test came back negative. he said he's had to change his shoe a few times over the last 10 years. his hats don't fit him anymore. had to resize his watches. with all the symptoms he described, i decide to run some labs.
i take his blood and order a HGH level, as well as IGF-1. labs came back today & his GH & IGF levels are astronomical. i tell him i suspect that he has a tumor in his pituitary gland producing growth hormone, but won't know for sure until his MRI results come back.
