In my travels I have met different kinds of people across social stratification. The most fascinating are students I have had the privilege of speaking to & mentoring occasionally. I know quite a lot who were battered by indoctrination, which has replaced education in Nigeria. 🤓
Many have been led to believe that your grades in school determines your destiny. Another set believes that you can’t lay claims to intelligence without proving the retention of junks forced into their subconscious in the bid to pass exams.
From experience, history & studies show this is not the case. Even folks with very poor memory can have very high IQ. It is all a function of the understanding of neuroscience to get this. But if history is anything to go by, I can share a story that puts this in perspective.
Albert Einstein was traveling on a train. When the conductor came to him to collect ticket, he began to search his pockets. The conductor could recognize him and said that he could ride for free.
Then Einstein replied, “Thank you, but if I don’t find my ticket, I won’t know where to get off the train.’’

His memory was terribly poor but it is universally perceived that he held a higher level of IQ though his IQ was never tested. The anagram for him is Ten Elite Brains.
It was gathered that Einstein believed that true sign of intelligence was not knowledge but imagination. It is believed that he himself imagined more than gathering knowledge in his lifetime. He was an absent-minded person.

Highly imaginative people don’t allow their knowledge obstruct their dreams. They hardly see kmpossibilities because, like Einstein they know how to suspend reality. Recall what I said about inducement with creatives that use drugs.
Some scholars opine that “one’s memory is importantly waved by the flow of imagination making the memory unsteady. Hence, having a higher level of imagination causes a poor memory.”
I agree with the school of thought that posits that in terms of higher intelligence and creativity, it is better to have a higher level of imagination with more forgetfulness than a sharp memory with poor power of imagination.
It is therefore not only possible to have poor memory and high level IQ simultaneously but also sometimes a poor memory might be the sign of having a higher IQ. I have seen many big shots berate their kids, chauffeurs & maids over forgetfulness without a care in the world.
I process information better than most as told at different fora but the calendar is my sworn enemy. I augment my schedules with several apps & have several others managing things I must never forget. It’s not the amount of junks you store in the brain that makes you intelligent.
Intelligence makes you suspend your experience which might be a limitation to your imagination. This is how prejudice is also controlled. The rod that can hardly keep the Sheep in line can part the Red Sea. Not everything can be explained. There’re levels & there’s Dimension.
This is not to say that all high IQ folks are prone to memory losses or forgetfulness. Just saying that we must avoid the fallacy of labeling people stupid because they can’t recall what you may have committed to memory before you were 10. It is not just about knowledge.
My wife knows the date of birth of everybody in both families. She is our family calendar and loved for her supervision of early birthday gifts and wishes. But here I am paying the bills without skipping any. I can’t even remember mine without checking again/confirming from her.
Stop being too harsh on yourself. Intelligent people are full of doubts and the fools of the society are as bold as a Lion even in their ignorance. You deserve to treat yourself better. You are not what the certificates deemed you to be. #YouAreEnough ⛱

Still trying to figure out myself though. I remember events as far back as when I was 3years old, as though they happened yesterday, yet I struggle to remember birthdays or specific calendar events. This goes to show there are varieties of archetypes in that conundrum.
