I am a little irked about @DS9Doc. I rarely donate to projects, but I am a huge #StarTrekDS9 fan, and so I donated. I forgot there were perks involved, until I received an email telling me that a shipping label had been printed in my name to receive a DVD. 1/x
I mean, that was really nice, because I totally forgot there would be any perks, and wasn't really expecting any. But I was dismayed because the address @DS9Doc sending to was an old one in Florida, and not my current Bronx address. 2/x
I immediately reached out to @DS9Doc and was told it was too late. They had already shipped (even though my email just said a label had been made, and it had not been picked up yet). They had asked us for updated addresses, but not me. I never received an email asking that. 3/x
My only options were to hope that the post office would change the address for me (they won't), or that there's still forwarding four years after I've moved from that address (there isn't). But I was too late, @DS9Doc told me. 4/x
But then I get an email an hour ago — days after my communication with @DS9Doc — telling me I have a tracking number, and that my package has been shipped. If it was shipped this weekend, why couldn't my address be changed? It hadn't sent out yet. 5/x
I mean, it's not the end of the world, but still, I was looking forward to seeing the doc. And if $58 got me a chance to see it, I would like that chance. And I'm disappointed that this couldn't be fixed, when it seemed it actually COULD have been fixed. @DS9Doc 6/x
I have heard great things about @DS9Doc, however, and look forward to when I might actually get a chance to see it. And I hope the people living at my old Florida address enjoy it as well. 7/x

Unemployment rates are based only on those actively looking for jobs, versus those with jobs. Last time I checked, retired people and stay-at-home parents — which represent 15% and 18% of the population, respectively — are not counted in that rate. #ActBlue
So if you take 33% of the population, plus 2019's 4% unemployment rate, you're at 37% when talking the entire nation. But not everyone donates, so that skews numbers. Like where 15% are retired, but 20% of your donations come from retirees. It's a smaller pool of donors.
How could Lindsey Graham have 20% retiree donation if only 15% of the country is retired? The same way you can have 50% unemployed donation rates for a country that is only 37% unemployed. Smaller pools will skew the broader numbers. #ActBlue
So there is a bit of an anniversary tomorrow, Aug. 13. It will be 22 years since I first launched SyFy World. And yes, that predates @SYFY and @SYFYWIRE and all that, because they bought the name from me, haha! But yeah, I miss what became SyFy Portal (and then Airlock Alpha)
Sometimes I think I should resurrect it. But I'd have to build it from the ground up, and I don't have the same resources as some of the biggest sites. So if I ever did do it, I would have to find something that would be different from everyone else.
But yes, wish @SYFY and @SYFYWIRE a happy 22nd birthday, at least their name (even though they've only had it for about 11 years hehe).
