Meanwhile shy gym teacher Mr. Jeon is chaperoning and can't stop making eyes at the band's singer, Taehyung.
But of course that doesn't happen, because he is incapable of saying no, apparently.
Which leads him here, scowling in the corner.
One thing that gets him is that the music that was top 40 in his day are now considered throwbacks to these kids.
It reminds him of his age.
Jeongguk folds his arms over his chest, scoffing. "You should go bother your dates instead of me or you'll be running laps first thing on Monday," he warns.
Jeongguk searches for any shenanigans, cringing at the feedback through the speakers from the microphone, making his ears ring.
Jeongguk looks to the stage and feels his eyebrows climb his forehead at the sight of the guy on the mic dressed in one of those hideous powder blue tuxedos. The shirt he's wearing has ruffles and everything.
But it does.
"How's everyone doing tonight?" blue guy asks the crowd. It's no surprise he gets a half-assed response. "Wow, can really feel the enthusiasm!"
Jeongguk laughs quietly.
No one laughs.
Jeongguk bites down on one.
Blue guy looks back wide eyed at the rest of the band, who are seemingly trying not to laugh.
The drummer counts them in.
But there's an undercurrent of punk, and on closer inspection, Jeongguk can see it visually in the band, too.
It's kinda hot.
The only reason.
Between songs, the guitarist says something into blue guy's ear and suddenly two sets of eyes are on Jeongguk.
The guitarist laughs and returns to his post while the singer keeps looking his way as he drinks something from a solo cup. Jeongguk hopes it's not the punch.
He's very obviously getting sized up, eyes roaming over him and Jeongguk kind of wants to run away.
Jeongguk splutters. The kid's seem to be paying attention now and look between him and the singer. His whole face burns and he gives a nod to the guy in turn.
"You're a teacher?" the guy asks, so painfully obvious.
Jeongguk nods.
Blue guy grins. "You're cute."
The kid's start to giggle and 'ooh'.
"Hear that, coach? You're /cute/."
The football team will definitely be running laps on Monday. But right now, Jeongguk is focused on the fact he's getting hit on.
"What's your name?" blue guy presses.
Jeongguk can't answer.
"Mr. Jeon!" someone yells out.
"That's coach!" someone else supplies.
"Coach Jeon?" the singer tries.
"Alright, this next one goes out to Coach Jeon who I hope will meet me at the refreshment table after this song? I'd like to buy you a punch."
Jeongguk is /sweating/.
Jeongguk leans further back into the wall, even his ears feel on fire at this point.
How awkward, he shouldn't even be into this, it's inappropriate and unprofessional, it's—
Jeongguk nods.
Blue guy grins and people cheer.
He slowly shuffles his way on over to the refreshments table and keeps his eyes down when the song comes to an end.
Something blue sidles up beside him. "Hey."
Jeongguk looks up and almost knocks over his beautiful cup tower, quickly catching them before they topple. He clears his throat. "Hello."
"Jeongguk," he supplies, but has to admit he likes the way Taehyung sounds calling him coach.
He's lost his damn mind.
"I'd skip out on the punch." Jeongguk nods down to the bowl. "Unless you like paint thinner."
Taehyung laughs softly, low and pretty and Jeongguk is gone. "How about I take you out for one instead?"
Taehyung laughs and it might be as nice as his voice. "You don't like it?"
"Not the biggest fan, no."
"Wanna see me out of it instead?"
Yup. Jeongguk's /gone/.
But hey, he's going on his one year anniversary soon, so.
