Today’s #USofCareSummerReading breaks down a survey released by @Gallup and our partner, @WestHealth. The survey found that Americans borrowed an estimated $88 billion over the last year to pay for health care and many skipped treatment due to cost. nytimes.com/2019/04/02/hea…
It can communicate test results, record conversations, and more, however, discussions on #AI in health care are dominated by tech and industry leaders.
But what do everyday people think? We conducted survey research to find out.🧵⬇️
Key Takeaway 1️⃣
Adults are generally unaware of the variety of uses for AI in a health care setting.
Prior to taking the survey, half or fewer adults were aware of the variety of tested ways AI could be used in a health care setting.
🧵 ⬇️
Key Takeaway 2️⃣
Adults are divided on the use of AI in the delivery of their own personal health care.
Many say they feel concerned or uncertain. However, one-fourth indicate optimistic feelings while nearly one-fifth say they are comfortable or excited.

Back in May, Congress asked for advice on developing a federal public health insurance option. We're excited to send them our recommendations today. Take a read and let's go through what makes this a big deal. unitedstatesofcare.org/usofcares-advi…
These recommendations incorporate the major work we do listening to people and centering their health care needs. And people tell us again and again that they need certainty they can afford their health care.
Public health insurance options are a great step toward that.
Through years of work at the state level, we've learned just how effective public options can be at bringing down health care costs and reducing disparities. Groundbreaking new laws in Nevada and Colorado are leaders.
1. @USofCare's mission is to "...ensure that everyone has access to health care regardless of health status, social need, or income." That's why making #SurpriseBilling illegal & stopping this predatory practice from costing people $ needed to stop.
2. We believe change led in the states informs national policy. It always has. But #SurpriseBilling is abusive and we're committed to making our system work better for people. So, way back in December 2018, we released this memo by @KWikelius. unitedstatesofcare.org/resources/surp…
