PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE THE BIBLE FORBIDS WOMEN WEARING TROUSERS? Such a pity.

Misinformation has done way more harm than ignorance.

Thread
So I dropped my car for repairs yesterday and had to BOLT everywhere.

Beautiful thing about using Cabs is that I get to engage the drivers on a number of topics...especially salvation.

Turns out driving your car May affect your evangelical “drive”, lol. Okay, back to d point
The first guy (Muslim) told me that Jesus categorically promised in the Bible, that Prophet Mohammed was coming. He claimed Jesus actually mentioned the name “Mohammed” specifically.
I have promised to give him 5k if he finds the text. It’s been 12hrs now but...guess he’s busy.
The second guy is actually Christian, but belonging to a brand popular in Lagos. They are known to kitup with neon vests like traffic wardens (with inscriptions of their next Church programs thereon) as they march out to evangelize.
I sincerely commended their heart and passion for evangelism but encouraged them to reveal Christ more and give up works consciousness. Everything was going well until some how, he brought this up: “The bible says women should not wear trousers”. I’m like what? Where? How?
Confidently, he minimized his driving app to find his bible. Whilst he searched for the text, I was already at Deuteronomy 22:5 waiting. He found it and read: “The woman shall not wear that which pertains to a man...”. Sounded like a broken record honestly.
I shared simple thoughts with him
1. You said the Bible categorically says: “women should not wear trousers” but you showed me this instead?
2. You assume, trousers “pertains” to men even though men didn’t wear trousers in that day. Men wore skirts! Deu 22:30, 27:20 1 Sam 15:27
Forgive me for pointing this out, but the man could barely read the text. His struggle made me realize he had little or no education.
Yet he was sure what that text meant! Why? Someone he trusts preached it to him that way.
When people take a stand for the truth, don’t criticize them for being unnecessarily bothered about semantics.
People actually suffer for being poorly taught. We are actually better off ignorant than misinformed.
The Bible teaches decent dressing for both men and women. Preach decency. But to make it about trousers is laughable. Some skirts are worse than trousers. I’m sure you’ve seen some.
Think of female engineers or even event planners who have to climb for one reason or the other. Which is more decent for them then? Skirt or trouser? 🤷🏽‍♂️
Btw, Taking Deu 22:5 literally will mean that women shouldn’t wear skirts. Like I said earlier, men wore skirts in those days.
Well, this thread isn’t even my detailed thought on the matter. I’m just thinking out loud here. I’m really eager to see more people read the Bible objectively and properly. My passion is rekindled
Have a great day

CHRISTIANITY IS THE WHITE MAN’S RELIGION?

You may have heard it said that Christianity is the white man's religion and a tool of mental control and oppression. Is this true though?

#thread
To begin with, you should realize that in the bible, the promise of the gospel was made to a Middle Eastern man. His name was Abraham, and no, he wasn't a white man. (Galatians 3:8, Gen 12:1-3)
Abraham was born at a place known as “Ur of the Chaldeans,” which today is a city near Nasiriyah in southern Iraq

Also, Galatians 3:8 shows that although the gospel will have its origins in Israel, it will be for the world: “In thee shall ALL the nations of the earth be blessed”

SHOULD GOSPEL ARTISTES TICKET THEIR EVENTS?

This is a question that must be answered with scriptures, but also with love and common sense:
Consider the Jewish Priesthood. Those who were in charge of the service of public worship were called Levites. These included, MUSICIANS, gate keepers, guardians, Temple officials, judges, and craftsmen.
Why is this important? ‘Cus one of the borrowed ideas behind gospel artistes not ticketing events come from the fact that Levites were never supposed to work for money.

But there is a huge omission in that narrative.

HAVE YOU TRIED TO BEAT THAT HABIT FOR YEARS AND FAILED?

Here is something you most likely have been missing:
PLOT TWIST- Fighting that habit might have been counterproductive

I’m not saying you shouldn’t fight at all, I’m saying that’s not enough.

Fighting habits is like plucking the leaves off a tree and hoping the tree will die.

No, go for the root! How? Keep reading.
Purpose is a great weapon against habits.

If you're living without a compelling dream, there is a void in your life you might be trying to fill without knowing.

The popular quotes aren’t cliché after all: “Nature abhors a vacuum” and “The idle mind is the devil’s workshop”

DID GOD FAIL PASTOR ADEBOYE? HOW COULD HIS SON DIE?

First, I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family (biological and spiritual) of the late Pastor Dare Adeboye. He is in a better place.

Interesting questions about his demise birthed this #thread #PstIrensaid
Incidents like these reveal the urgent need for believers to return to doctrinal fundamentals. Have we understood what REALLY makes us Christians?
See, when you pray for a dead believer to rise, you are praying a prayer that has already been answered. It’s only a matter of WHEN.
Yes, Jesus RAISED Lazarus from the dead (John 11), but as proof that He is the RESURRECTION, and ALL (not just Lazarus) who believe, will rise again when He comes (verse 25,26). SALVATION, not miracles, is God’s FINAL solution to death. It’s prayer already answered for believers

LISTEN UP. It takes discernment to recognize real love. You’ve heard that love is an action? Not exactly true. You’ve heard that love gives, therefore giving is proof of love? Not true either

Selfish people could be momentarily generous for future gain. #thread #Pstirensaid
Paul says:

“If I give away all I have, nd I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing” 1 Cor 12:3

So you can give all your money and not be walking in love. You can surrender your very body for buffeting but for sheer heroism and not love #Pstirensaid
Love is a motive. It’s not just in the what, but in the why.

Without the right motives, religion becomes dangerous and I dare say destructive. Once love is no more the motive, devotion becomes the destructive opium of the masses. #Pstirensaid
