To understand the world of manipulation and how we got here I suggest watching Adam Curtis. The first is Century of Self about the psychology of behavior and how it is used for and against us.
Second course is "The Power of Nightmares" and how politics began to use marketing and fear to suit their purposes. Creating an intellectual divide between the high and low cognition populations.
For desert. A journey into AI-driven echo chambers. Again Adam Curtis is prescient and knowledgeable on the art of propaganda. #YouAreCool
Named after an out of print poetry collection by Richard Brautigan (esoteric much?). His latest can be a little too much Curtis for one sitting. I would skip to Part 3 for the meaty bits: 'The Monkey in the Machine and the Machine in the Monkey' vimeo.com/189121231

Understanding Hitler is the key to understanding Trump 2.0. We are in the propaganda and division stage. Leaning into the outrage. Hitler blamed the Jew. Trump blames DEI. (odd, but Antifa and BLM won't pick up the phone) aish.com/understanding-…
"Goebbels was a master at simplifying complex situations in misleading ways and repeating his lies Another facet of Goebbels’s propaganda, is that “it wasn’t important that the individual facts are correct; an item just has to be repeated in the service of a single truth.”
"It was a manufactured consensus, a propaganda construct, with repression of political opponents, "racial enemies" and other outsiders as the other side of the coin. The "superman" image of Hitler amounted to the central component of the fabrication." spiegel.de/international/…
The Russian Tail is a statistical anomaly that appears in vote distribution data. In manipulated elections, this curve develops an extended tail, indicating disproportionately high votes for a specific candidate in certain regions or polling stations" lynxotic.com/the-russian-ta…
My thoughts for today; Let Donny roll. Incompetence at speed and scale is historically a healthy thing in the long run. Successful managers respect reality, inertia, logistics, limitations etc. Stupid people think bluster and bullshit trump homeostasis. That leads to...
...an inflection or pivot point. Stability is an enemy to change. Good and bad. Instability is an ideal landscape for change. Pro or con. Let Trump paralyze, terrorize and metastasize the government because it will draw forth change agents to battle his chaos agents.
Trump's reliance on superficial theatrics, threats, insults, and unleashing incompetent subordinates with foolish ideas to disrupt the bureaucratic system we call government will lead to fractures. The much quieter "deep state" understands how the government operates.
Tip: Trump is embracing the Broligarch mantra of "disruption" as in, "move fast and break things." I call it "Smash, Grab and Run" because there are three endstates: 1) Payoffs for corrupt donors, 2) Legacy reshaping and 3) Protection of Trump familial wealth.
Trump operates on three levels: 1) rapidly spewing outrage jibberish to keep the media chasing his laser pointer, 2) Echoing donor jingoism to pay bills, and 3) discussing deeply corrupt deals while abusing his office of President.
This is tempered by a) his incompetence (Dunning-Kruger) b) his inability to think strategically and c) betraying his corrupt donors to take the short money instead of the long money. His backers also discard him when he has no beneficial purpose just as he discards his minions.
For those following the fires in California. Fire is a natural part of life here. Santana or devil winds are normal. Wood frame mansions on the edge of brush are common. November 6, 1961 was a similar event. Doesn't minimize the shock or sense of loss. lafire.com/famous_fires/1…
This time we had the jet stream pushed too high. 30 degree variance between day and night. No rain so far (starts in mid-December). Winds out of season. Usually 3 days of hot dry winds from the desert in Sept/Nov. We had a lot of brush grow after two years of great rainfall.
The Pacific Palisades is a unique place. Dating back to the 20's. A lot of entertainment people. A lot of Jewish community. The heart of liberal California. Beautiful views and weather. $5M and up. They are going to have a major voice and impact as they get together to rebuild.
Back when no one believed that the UK would divorce Europe. Dominic Cummings was not only correct but was behind much of the strategy. economist.com/britain/2016/0…
The faces of Leave UK were not your usual politicans.
'A former Vote Leave staffer said that Cummings had a first rate political brain but less developed interpersonal skills. “Some people found him really odd,”. opendemocracy.net/en/opendemocra…
The premise of was false. But that didn't matter. African migrants weren't going to take over the UK. They were already there... from India and the colonies. "I think it’s perfectly reasonable to say ‘Brexit was a mistake and history will prove that’.”newstatesman.com/politics/2021/…
