A short thread, courtesy, a friend.

A bhakt asked me to project the positive side of economy. He says "we all know that economy is down in the gutter but we should spread positive news so that people don't store money but spend".
Here are 10 positives about our economy
1. Job losses are good for the economy. They will promote entreprenuership (Piyush Goyal)

2. Fall in car sales is creating employment for taxi operators like Ola ( BJP Spokesperson) and is also good for environment.
3. Fall in truck sales is leading to highest ever discounting making trucks cheaper for all families to buy.

4. Raising fiscal deficit is good as it creates inflation and increases demand.
5. Fall in FDI is good as it helps us preserve Swadeshi and protect Indian industry.

6. It is good that we fell from 5th to 7th rank on world GDP Ranking. Trump will now be forced to call us developing nation.
7. The 167 rating downgrades against 73 upgrades will ensure that we clean up our bank balance sheets through recapitalisation.

8. The shortfall in GST collections by 1.70 lac crores means we are taxed lesser then earlier under UPA.
9. The fall in real estate sales would mean fall in housing prices, which is good for home buyers.
10. The rupee fall is strategic to boost our exports so that we can beat China.

All is well. Don't Worry. #NewIndia

Kalaignar Karunanidhi was a ladder that brought most of Tamil society up by his politics and actions as CM.

Today, some who were actually brought up by his policies are kicking that ladder down preventing others to come up.

#ForeverKalaignar
The long arch of justice will invariably take longer and a society cannot wait for nature to do ‘right.’ The long arches were bent with simple decisions - be it reservations, property rights for women, water policy, industrial policy or education policy.

#ForeverKalaignar
His politics was one that was also in America’s Declaration of Independence- “that all men are created equal.” It is precisely this belief and continuous calling out discrimination makes made him and still makes him a target for TN’s so called upper castes.

#அறிவோம்ஈழம்

In the last two weeks, there has been frenzied discussion in Tamil spaces about LTTE, Eelam struggle and TN politics.

It is important to stress, again, that everyone stands with Eelam Struggle.

And legitimate questions about LTTE can and should be asked.
What is going on between various groups is only one thing: Who is the legitimate representative (or leader) of Tamils?
NTK sees itself as the inheritor of Prabhakaran's legacy, although not knowing what it entails and goes on to issue certificates on 'who is Tamil.' (sanghi like)
It is quite evident from the fact that their hate is only channeled against Kalaignar and not against anyone else, including Jayalalitha, who wanted total destruction of LTTE.

This is despite the fact that DMK has carried the cross of supporting LTTE.

As China flexes its muscles in Hong Kong and Ladakh, there is a tale that connects England, Bombay and Shanghai through one family - of creation and loss of wealth in China.

A short story.
In 1800s, a wealthy Baghdadi Jew settled in Bombay. Enterprising as he was, he had interests in trading cotton, opium (dont judge) and others in India, China and eventually in the UK.
Mumbaikars may know the name David Sassoon and Punekars would have heard surname.
The family was so promient and so wealthy that it was tied in matrimony to Rothschild. Sassoon name had left an indelible mark in Bombay for the good.

Gujarat COVID19: How come Gujarat has only 25% active cases?

Data taken from MOHFW website today.

It is not possible. Let me explain Image
On an average it takes 14 days for the people to get cured. So, if we look at number of cases reported as on 22nd May, Gujarat had total of 13273.

So, 19094-13273=5821 cases newly reported from then.
Deaths:
22nd May, 2020, Gujarat had 802 deaths and today 1190.

So 1190-802=388.

Deduct this from total cases difference:

5821-388=5433 cases

COVID19 - Maharashtra, Guajarat and Tamil Nadu - a short thread. On March 9th, I wondered how come there were no COVID19 cases reported from these states.

A month and a half later, we see these two states as hotspots. Where are we now?

The image below has moving average of number of cases of Gujarat and Maharashtra. I took two moving averages - one is 7 day and the other 14 days.

Why?
14 day may seem slow but the trend wont change easily
7 day to understand the direction fast
Are cases reducing?
If the number of cases are reducing and fast, 7 day moving average will start to go down faster than 14 day mov avg.

Is it happening? No.

If you want to bypass the great surveillance architecture that Indian government is envisaging, as a first step start using VPN.

There are many free VPNs available. But it is better to spend some money on reliable VPNs.
Anyone who says internet cannot be regulated is an idiot. Not everyone is a tech enthusiast who can code and talk via complicated networks.

China's grip on internet shows what a determined state can do. It is just tip of the iceberg.
As the technology improves and scale grows to unimaginable proportions, everything will be possible.

This was 2012. 👇
