The Irish Backstop keeps Northern Ireland (UK) & Ireland (EU) in the same Tariff/Regulatory system so you don't need security at the border because that would break the Good Friday Agreement which brought peace after 3,600 deaths.

NOT THE SAME AS CANADA, DAN!!

@DanielJHannan Either Daniel Hannan literally doesn't know ANYTHING about the Irish-UK history which the Backstop is based on, or he knows it all but believes that people who support Brexit are so completely and utterly ignorant that they'll agree with him.

Can you imagine if, during the years of Brexit renegotiations (2020-24), journalists had grilled the Tories on their manifesto promise to get Brexit done.... as much as they're now grilling Labour on whether they're "taxing working people"?

It shows they CAN do their jobs.
They just chose not to with the Tories.
Look at this.

It's very good journalism by @WilfredFrost, exposing that the Labour manifesto used the technicality of not directly taxing working people, but it still hits them.

"Get Brexit Done" was literally the title of the Tory manifesto and was NEVER challenged like this.
Boris Johnson started renegotiations SIX MONTHS after winning an election on a promise to end the Brexit negotiations.

So there's nothing subjective about the fact that the Tory government was elected on a lie.

Yet NOT ONE news station categorically communicated that fact.Image

I don't know or care if I've already shared this on here.

It's OUTSTANDING.
Whenever I gave talks in schools, with 16/17-year-olds, I'd start by asking them if they cared about politics.

Very few hands would go up.

Then I'd ask if they care about shop prices, jobs after school, NHS treatment.

All the hands went up.

I'd then say "That's all politics".
That was me, until I was much older.

I didn't care about "politics".

I was a black kid born in Darlington, growing up in Dundee and Birmingham.

"Politics" was old, rich, suit-and-tied, white men, shouting at each other hundreds of miles away.

I saw zero connection to my life.
